KRAFTON integrated Overwolf’s CurseForge technology into inZOI through the game’s built-in Mod Browser. However, inZOI entered Early Access in March 2025 without the finished mod system; official in-game CurseForge support arrived with the June 13, 2025 update. The CurseForge desktop app still does not support inZOI.
The accurate version of the claim
The historical partnership is real: Overwolf operates CurseForge, and KRAFTON built CurseForge-powered mod discovery and distribution into inZOI. The player-facing product is an in-game browser, not a separate Overwolf overlay or a requirement to install the CurseForge desktop client. Overwolf describes CurseForge at overwolf.com/app/overwolf-curseforge, while CurseForge documents the inZOI integration at its inZOI getting-started guide.
So “Overwolf will support KRAFTON’s upcoming life sim at launch” is accurate only as an old announcement. Today’s precise description is: KRAFTON partnered with Overwolf’s CurseForge platform to provide official in-game mod support for inZOI, available from June 2025 onward.
What “at launch” gets wrong
There are three different dates behind the shorthand:

KRAFTON’s investor presentation records the March 2025 Early Access release at krafton.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/KRAFTON-4Q24_Investor_Presentation_vF_ENG.pdf. That distinction matters: a launch-window promise is not the same as a feature available on the first Early Access build.
What the CurseForge partnership actually delivers
KRAFTON uses CurseForge for Studios technology to package and distribute creator content. Players open Mods from the inZOI main menu, browse available projects, and manage them without leaving the game. Creators can package supported assets and publish them to the inZOI CurseForge project.

This is different from saying “the Overwolf app supports inZOI.” CurseForge’s installation documentation explicitly says the desktop CurseForge app does not support inZOI; downloads must be performed in-game: support.curseforge.com/…/how-to-install-inzoi-mods-in-game. The official ModKit export documentation is at mod-docs.playinzoi.com/ModKit/export/curseforge.html.
How to install an inZOI mod
- Launch inZOI on PC.
- Open Mods from the main menu.
- Use Discovery or Browse to find a project.
- Choose the mod and download or install it through the in-game interface.
- Open Installed Mods to enable, disable, or uninstall it.
- Return to the lobby and check Character Studio or Build Studio, depending on what the mod changes.
KRAFTON also documents a manual route for locally saved files: place compatible mods in DocumentsinZOIMods. That option is useful for creator testing, but it does not replace the discovery and moderation functions of the in-game browser.

What the ModKit can—and cannot—do
The first ModKit roadmap included downloadable mesh and JSON assets, selected data editing through JSON and the Data Editor, Maya and Blender plugins, Unreal Engine plugin-based mods, and CurseForge packaging. KRAFTON’s announcement is explicit that this was a staged system, not unrestricted access to every game system.
Supported or planned areas
- Custom furniture, clothing, and other supported asset categories.
- Selected game-data edits through JSON and the Data Editor.
- Creator workflows using Maya, Blender, and Unreal Engine plugins.
- Publishing packaged mods through CurseForge and discovering them in-game.
Incomplete or restricted areas
- Scripting was still under development when the initial ModKit shipped.
- Character animations, body types, voice lines, relationship mechanics, and broad city or public-zone editing were not all supported by the initial system.
- Roadmap targets for later appearance, building, interaction, scripting, and localization features were announcements, not permanent guarantees. KRAFTON’s staged plan appears in the ModKit roadmap and its expanded update at playinzoi.com/en/news/8708.
Check current ModKit documentation before promising that a particular category works; game and engine updates can change the supported surface.

Compatibility problems and practical recovery
A mod that works today may fail after a game or engine update. KRAFTON specifically warned that the Unreal Engine 5.6 migration could temporarily disable many installed mods until their authors updated them.
If a mod does not appear
- It may still be awaiting moderation or have been released privately.
- You may be checking the unsupported desktop app rather than the in-game browser.
- The project may target another game version, or have been removed or restricted.
If a mod downloads but fails
- Disable it under Installed Mods.
- Re-enable mods one at a time to identify conflicts.
- Check the creator’s version history and notes.
- Update the mod after a game or engine update.
- For local files, verify the exact
DocumentsinZOIModspath and keep backups before major updates.
Rules for creators
KRAFTON’s stated policy requires mods on official supported platforms to be free to users. Direct paid mods, restricted-access releases, and paid early access are prohibited. The policy and Q&A are documented at playinzoi.com/en/news/8751.

- Creators retain rights to their user-created work but are responsible for third-party intellectual-property violations.
- Mods must not be presented as officially endorsed KRAFTON content.
- CurseForge moderation rules apply; see the inZOI moderation guidelines.
General CurseForge creator programs and advertising revenue are separate from inZOI’s game-specific ban on charging users for access. Do not assume general CurseForge terms override KRAFTON’s rules.
Bottom line
Overwolf-backed CurseForge support for inZOI is genuine, but it was not fully present on the March 2025 Early Access launch. The supported player workflow is the game’s built-in Mods menu, which became available with the June 13, 2025 update. The desktop CurseForge app is not an inZOI installer, mod support remains feature-specific, and future game or engine updates can break older creations.
