HiAlgo Boost was a Windows utility that aimed to make games feel smoother by lowering rendering resolution during rapid camera movement, then restoring it when the view settled. That can reduce GPU work, but it trades image sharpness for performance; it is not frame generation. In 2026, its current support and the provenance of archived installers are unverified, so built-in game and GPU features are safer places to start.
What HiAlgo Boost was
HiAlgo Boost was a performance utility for PC games, aimed in part at players whose hardware struggled to maintain smooth frame rates. Surviving third-party descriptions say it detected camera movement and changed the game’s effective rendering resolution in response. They also describe the utility as modifying or intercepting commands between a game and the graphics card; that implementation detail is not confirmed by a current first-party technical document. Software Informer’s HiAlgo Boost listing is a third-party account, not a developer manual.
The basic idea is dynamic resolution: render fewer pixels when the scene is demanding, then return to a higher resolution when conditions allow. It does not mean the GPU renders the same image more efficiently without a trade-off.
How its resolution trick could help
- At rest: The game renders at a higher internal resolution for a sharper view.
- During movement: When the camera moves quickly, the utility lowers the effective rendering resolution.
- What changes: Fewer pixels usually mean less GPU rendering work. The resulting image is softer, but a GPU-limited game may deliver frames more consistently.
- When movement slows: The resolution is raised again, according to surviving descriptions.
This is different from upscaling, which enlarges a lower-resolution image for display, and from frame generation, which creates additional frames between rendered ones. The available descriptions support motion-triggered resolution changes, not AI upscaling or synthetic-frame creation.

Will it increase FPS or reduce input lag?
It may improve frame rate when the graphics card is the bottleneck and reducing resolution cuts enough rendering work. There is no reliable current benchmark establishing a universal gain, and no defensible percentage applies across games or PCs. Results depend on the game, resolution, GPU, driver, CPU and the size of the resolution change.
If the processor is limiting performance, reducing resolution may do little or nothing. Even when the GPU is the constraint, higher displayed FPS can come with blur or conspicuous changes in detail. Less GPU workload may improve perceived responsiveness in some configurations, but HiAlgo Boost does not guarantee lower end-to-end input latency; measure the result in the particular game.
Which games did it support?
Historical forum categories reference The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Far Cry 3 and a broader multi-game Boost area. A community thread also mentions problems with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. These are historical references, not a verified compatibility list for current systems. The surviving HiAlgo forum categories show game-specific discussion and troubleshooting, but do not establish present-day support.

Compatibility could vary with a game’s rendering API, executable updates, full-screen mode, graphics drivers and other software. Online games add another concern: software that hooks or alters rendering behavior may conflict with anti-cheat systems. There is no verified basis here to say that HiAlgo Boost works with any particular current game, Windows release, driver or anti-cheat system.
Is HiAlgo Boost still available and safe to download?
A third-party catalog lists HiAlgo Boost 5.0 as freeware and labels that listing’s program information as updated June 20, 2026. That does not establish that version 5.0 is an official release, that the installer came from the developer, or that it is supported, compatible or malware-free. No current official download, release notes or support documentation are verified here. The old forum’s continued accessibility is not proof of active maintenance.
Treat any archived installer as unverified, not as a recommended download. That caution is not evidence that HiAlgo Boost is malicious; it reflects the unknown origin and current status of the file. If you are evaluating a legacy installer despite that uncertainty:

What image-quality costs should you expect?
Reducing the internal resolution means fewer details are rendered, especially while the camera is moving. Depending on the implementation and game, you may notice a softer image, visible transitions, shimmering or aliasing. It is not established whether HiAlgo Boost preserved HUD elements and text sharply in every supported game; interface behavior can depend on how the utility interacted with each title.
The trade-off may be less acceptable if you prioritize crisp text and fine detail, play at a low output resolution, or find repeated changes distracting. HiAlgo Boost offered no free performance: its premise was to spend some image quality for potentially smoother motion.

- The system is CPU-limited: Fewer rendered pixels may not address the processor bottleneck.
- The game or display mode is incompatible: An unsupported rendering API, exclusive full-screen mode or changed game executable can prevent the utility from working as expected.
- Drivers or other tools conflict: A driver update, overlay, capture application, mod or other injector may change how the game behaves.
- Anti-cheat blocks it: A game may object to software that modifies or intercepts rendering, even when the tool is intended to improve performance.
- The performance headroom is insufficient: Lowering resolution may not be enough to make a demanding game run smoothly.
- The visual changes outweigh the gain: Resolution shifts or a persistently soft image may be more distracting than the original frame-rate problem.
Who might benefit, and who should avoid it?
The underlying technique makes the most sense when a game is GPU-bound, its frame rate is close to playable but inconsistent, and the player accepts some loss of sharpness for smoother motion. A legacy third-party utility is a poor first choice when the game is CPU-bound, already includes an upscaler or dynamic-resolution setting, or uses anti-cheat protections. It is also a poor fit if you need reliably crisp text, use unusual display modes, or do not want to troubleshoot old software.

What to try instead
Start with the game’s own options
Lower expensive settings such as shadows, reflections, volumetric effects and ambient occlusion. If available, try the game’s own dynamic-resolution or resolution-scale control, then its supported upscaler. These options are integrated with the title rather than relying on an unverified external utility.
Use vendor-supported features where compatible
AMD Radeon Boost adjusts resolution in supported DirectX 11 games and can adjust shading rates in supported DirectX 12 games, according to AMD’s Radeon Boost overview. It requires supported Radeon hardware and games; AMD explains configuration and support limits in its Radeon Boost support material.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) is a family of upscaling and frame-generation technologies integrated into supported games. Its operation and supported features vary by game; see AMD’s FSR overview. NVIDIA DLSS is another game-integrated option for compatible NVIDIA hardware and supported titles. Neither should be confused with HiAlgo Boost’s advertised external, motion-triggered resolution manipulation.

Adjust resolution or stabilize frame delivery
If the game lacks a suitable built-in option, manually lower its resolution scale or output resolution. To assess whether resolution scaling is likely to help, watch GPU utilization and frame times alongside CPU use by core. A heavily loaded GPU with CPU capacity available is a stronger indication of a graphics bottleneck than overall CPU utilization alone. A frame-rate cap can also help make delivery more consistent, though it does not fix every bottleneck.
Verdict
HiAlgo Boost is a useful example of an enduring performance trade-off: render less detail during demanding motion to reduce GPU workload. Its historical behavior and game references do not establish that it is a safe, supported or compatible choice today. Try in-game scaling or a supported driver feature first, and do not treat an archived listing as an official download source.
