You do not need a USB transmitter, and the USB-C cable is for charging and firmware updates—not ordinary game audio. First check that you have the Xbox version: the PlayStation version uses a USB mini-transmitter and is not interchangeable for this setup.
Check the headset model and prepare it
Look at the headset label, packaging, or original purchase listing for the platform designation. These steps are for the Stealth 600 Gen 2 for Xbox. Turtle Beach lists that model for Xbox One and Xbox Series X, as well as Windows PCs with Xbox Wireless built in or an Xbox Wireless Adapter. See the Stealth 600 Gen 2 Xbox Quick Start Guide.
If your headset came with a USB wireless mini-transmitter and is marked for PlayStation, do not plug that transmitter into Xbox One expecting it to work as an Xbox receiver. The Xbox model connects directly to the console. Charge the headset with its USB-C cable if needed; Turtle Beach rates battery life at up to 15 hours, an estimate that can vary with use and battery condition.
Before pairing, turn on the Xbox One and keep the headset nearby. If the headset has been repeatedly trying to connect, switch it off before starting.

Pair the Stealth 600 Gen 2 with Xbox One
- Turn on the Xbox One.
- Press and hold the headset’s Power button until its LED lights.
- Press the console’s Pair or Enrollment button. The console light should begin blinking.
- Press and hold the headset’s Connect button until its LED flashes rapidly.
- Wait a few seconds for the connection. The headset and console lights should become solid; the Xbox may show “Headset Assigned” and the headset may play a confirmation tone.
The console button’s location depends on the Xbox One revision: on the original Xbox One it is on the left side near the disc drive; on Xbox One S and Xbox One X it is on the lower-right area of the front panel. Turtle Beach’s Xbox One pairing instructions show the pairing sequence and locations.
Confirm the connection and test sound
A solid green headset LED indicates that the headset and console are paired; a double-blinking green LED means it is not paired, according to the quick-start guide. Start a game or other audio and raise the headset’s Game volume dial to check playback.
For a microphone test, flip the boom mic down, then join an Xbox party or use the game’s voice-chat test. Flipping the microphone up mutes it. If other players cannot hear you, check that the mic is down and that the headset is assigned to the intended profile before changing pairing settings.
Set game, chat, and spatial audio
Use the correct volume dial
The headset has separate physical Game and Chat volume dials. Adjust the game dial when game sound is low and the chat dial when party or voice-chat sound is low. Chat balance also depends on the active party or game-chat context and Xbox communication or privacy settings.

Stereo audio works without changing console settings. For Xbox spatial audio, open Settings → General → Volume & audio output and set Headset audio to Windows Sonic for Headphones. Menu wording can vary slightly with Xbox system software. Windows Sonic is an optional console audio mode, not a requirement for pairing.
Know the other headset controls
The Mode button cycles through four EQ presets: Signature Sound, Bass Boost, Bass + Treble Boost, and Vocal Boost. A quick press of the Power button toggles Superhuman Hearing; holding it powers the headset on or off. The USB-C port is for charging and firmware work, not the Xbox Wireless connection.
Troubleshoot pairing and audio problems
The headset will not enter pairing mode
- Turn the headset completely off and restart the Xbox One.
- Turn the headset back on, then press the console’s Pair/Enrollment button first.
- Immediately press and hold the headset’s Connect button until its LED flashes rapidly.
- Keep the devices close and wait several seconds. If the lights do not synchronize, repeat the sequence once.
Use the console’s physical pairing control rather than trying to pair this headset through the Xbox Accessories app.
The console Pair button seems to be missing
Check the console revision before assuming it is absent: original Xbox One places it on the left side near the disc drive, while Xbox One S and Xbox One X place it at the lower-right front area. The button location is documented in Turtle Beach’s pairing instructions.

A previously paired headset no longer connects
Try a full console shutdown rather than leaving the Xbox in sleep or Instant-on mode. Hold the console’s Power button until it shuts down completely, restart it, power-cycle the headset, then pair again with the console Pair button and headset Connect button. Turtle Beach recommends a full hard reset and re-pairing for certain unresponsive or connection-related failures in its hard-reset and firmware guidance.
The headset is unresponsive or stuck with a solid red LED
Use Turtle Beach Audio Hub on a Windows or Mac computer to check for an offered firmware update. Connect the headset to the computer with USB, open Audio Hub, let it detect the headset, and install an available update. Do not disconnect it until the update completes. Turtle Beach says the firmware update is intended to address the unresponsive solid-red-LED condition; it is not a guarantee against every hardware fault. Follow the Audio Hub firmware instructions, then restart the Xbox and pair again if needed.

- Gen 2 Mic for Clear chat with teammates

Game audio works, but chat does not
- Make sure the microphone is flipped down and the Chat dial is not at minimum.
- Confirm you joined the intended Xbox party or game chat and that the game’s voice-chat option is enabled.
- Check that the headset is assigned to the right Xbox profile and that Xbox privacy and communication settings allow voice chat.
A chat problem can come from the game, party, profile, or account settings even when the headset is paired correctly.
Chat works, but game audio is missing
- Raise the Game dial and verify that the game is producing audio.
- Check the Xbox headset-audio output setting.
- If audio routing changed after toggling a spatial-audio mode, check the output selection again.
- If the headset appears connected but routing remains absent, power-cycle both devices and pair again.
The headset connected to a PC instead
The Xbox model can also work with Windows through Xbox Wireless, but many PCs need a separate Xbox Wireless Adapter. PC controls do not provide the same separate game/chat control behavior as they do on Xbox. See Turtle Beach’s PC compatibility guide.
After a firmware update
A firmware update may leave the headset needing to be enrolled with Xbox Wireless again. If the headset powers on but no longer connects after updating, repeat the Xbox One pairing procedure. Turtle Beach’s earlier Stealth 600 Xbox Audio Hub guidance notes that firmware updating can erase the Xbox Wireless connection; treat re-pairing as a sensible first recovery step after an update: Stealth 600 for Xbox One Audio Hub instructions.
When to keep using it or consider another headset
If the headset powers on, holds a useful charge, and its controls, cushions, and microphone are in good condition, pairing or firmware recovery is usually the relevant fix for an Xbox One setup problem. Consider another headset if the battery is badly degraded, the unit remains unresponsive after firmware recovery, or you specifically need features the Gen 2 Xbox guide does not list, such as Bluetooth phone audio or substantially longer battery life. Do not assume the Gen 2 Xbox model has Bluetooth based on a newer headset’s specifications.
