Spoilers: This guide covers the Basement, its map and pallet-jack puzzle, and the route through the Underground to Room 46. Find the Basement Key in the Antechamber, enter the Basement through the lowered Foundation elevator, then use the Basement’s full Underground map and solve the pallet-jack bridge puzzle to continue.
Get the Basement Key in the Antechamber
Reach the Antechamber and enter through any accessible door. A pedestal rises in the center of the room with the Basement Key. The note beside it reads: “To continue up, you must go down.”

The key opens the locked Basement entrance at the bottom of the Foundation elevator. It can also open the entrance at the bottom of the drained Fountain.

Use the Foundation elevator
The Foundation is the most reliable documented entrance to the Basement. Draft it, then draft an adjacent room with the doorway needed to access the Foundation’s back wall. Operate the elevator mechanism, ride down, and unlock the door with the Basement Key.

Other entrances
The drained Fountain, Tomb, Precipice and Cliffside can also provide alternate routes into the Underground, but each has different requirements. The Foundation route is the clearest option when you want a direct, documented way to reach the Basement.
Find the full Underground map
Inspect the desk in the Basement to find a complete map of the Underground. A second full copy is in the Rotating Gear Room; map fragments found elsewhere match sections of the same layout. Look closely at the map for a marking of the number 10 associated with the Basement route.

Solve the Basement pallet-jack puzzle
The pallet jacks serve as movable bridges over gaps between crates. You need to arrange them in the available lanes, cross the crates and reach the wall button.
- You can push or pull the pallet jacks, but they cannot turn.
- They cannot pass through one another.
- Each jack can only be moved from sides that the room’s layout allows you to reach.
- Use the lanes to reposition the jacks into bridges over the crate gaps, then cross to the button.
These constraints explain the objective and how the jacks behave, but they do not establish a complete move-by-move sequence. The exact order depends on the current arrangement, so use the visible lanes and accessible sides to plan each repositioning rather than relying on an unverified sequence.

Open the route through the Underground
Move the Reservoir minecart
From the south side of the Reservoir, move the minecart. This permanent change opens access between the Reservoir and the Rotating Gear area.
Cross the Rotating Gear area
Use the control panels in the Rotating Gear room to align the gear spokes. Cross the aligned gears to reach the Underpass, then continue to the Inner Sanctum.

Pull the Inner Sanctum lever
Pull the lever in the center of the Inner Sanctum. It unlocks the Antechamber’s north door.
Reach Room 46
Return to the Antechamber and go through the north door, marked with a crescent moon symbol. With the Inner Sanctum lever pulled, the door is open and leads to Room 46.
