The clearest dated starting point is GamersNexus’s $778 U.S. DIY tower build from October 2025, aimed mainly at 1080p gaming. It pairs a Ryzen 5 7500F with Intel’s Arc B580 and 32GB of DDR5. That is a historical example, not a current shopping list: prices and availability change, and no live price check is established here. What did you build at a similar budget, and what would you change?
What counts as a budget gaming PC?
Start by deciding what your budget includes. The cited guides describe component builds or core systems; their totals do not automatically cover a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or operating system. A tower-only target is not the same as the cost of a complete gaming setup.
Budget builds are exercises in allocating tradeoffs. Because the graphics card often has the largest effect on gaming performance, it can make sense to save on the CPU, motherboard, memory, case, or storage where practical, so more of the available budget can go toward the GPU. That is a budgeting principle, not a claim that one particular card is the best buy at today’s prices.
A dated $778 build aimed at 1080p
In its October 2025 U.S. guide, GamersNexus listed this $778 DIY build. The guide described the B580 configuration as aimed at 1080p, with lighter esports games potentially suited to higher refresh rates; that is not a frame-rate guarantee for every game.

The guide says its parts were checked for compatibility and were generally new, while noting used parts as an option for especially strict budgets. It also cautions that prices and availability can change daily. The listed $778 is a dated guide total, not a guaranteed checkout price or a complete desk setup cost.
Why the Arc B580 was part of the example
GamersNexus cited a $250 price for the Intel Arc B580 when its October 2025 guide was published, along with 12GB of VRAM and a 1080p value proposition. Those details explain the card’s appeal in that specific build; they do not establish its current price or value against today’s alternatives.

- Balanced Build with Efficient Power Delivery - Pre-installed in a matte black case with wide-voltage 400W power supply, this system offers future upgrade space and steady operation under full load.
- Graphics Notice – This unit is equipped with integrated graphics only; no dedicated GPU is included, and graphics performance is limited by shared system memory.
The guide also preserves an important qualification: Intel’s second-generation GPUs were described as having fewer issues than first-generation products, but Arc driver problems and frustrations remained. Builders who are less experienced or less willing to troubleshoot may prefer a competing GPU even if the B580 looks attractive on paper. Check current driver status and game compatibility before choosing.
How other 2025 guides framed the budget
| Guide and date | Build or budget frame | What it illustrates |
|---|---|---|
| TechSpot, June 2, 2025 | $555 “Utility Box”; discrete Radeon RX 6600 listed as an optional addition | An entry-level core system can be a starting point, but adding a discrete GPU changes the cost and gaming capability. |
| TechSpot, June 2, 2025 | $1,100 “Value Gaming Rig” | A higher tier framed for mainstream gaming; components could be mixed across the guide’s builds. |
| Ars Technica, August 2025 | $700–$800 budget-build context | The guide described this range as difficult to assemble, prioritizing savings elsewhere to fit a 16GB RX 9060 XT, with an 8GB 9060 XT or RTX 5060 as lower-cost alternatives in its analysis. |
These are recommendations and listed figures from editorial guides, not market averages, present-day quotes, or proof of a universally best 2025 build. The Ars Technica and TechSpot recommendations are also time-specific; current prices and availability can change the comparison.

How to judge a build at your budget
- Set the real total: Say whether you mean tower parts alone or also the operating system, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
- Name the target: Resolution and the games you play matter. A light esports game and a demanding new release may lead to different compromises.
- Compare GPUs at actual prices: Consider performance, VRAM, driver maturity, and the price available to you now—not a guide’s older listing price.
- Keep the CPU in proportion: Avoid spending on the processor at the expense of the graphics card without a reason tied to your games or workload.
- Account for memory and storage: Lower-cost examples may reduce capacity; larger budgets can add RAM or storage without raising gaming frame rates proportionately.
- Check platform and fit: Consider motherboard upgrade options, power-supply suitability, case clearance, and compatibility across the exact parts you plan to buy.
- Choose new or used deliberately: Used parts can stretch a strict budget, but the dated GamersNexus list was generally built around new components.
- Price the whole configuration again: Recheck stock, component prices, GPU competition, motherboard compatibility, and driver status before purchasing.
Share your build
Post your budget and region, whether your total includes peripherals, and the parts you chose. Include your target resolution and games, whether components were new or used, and any compromises or troubleshooting you encountered. That context makes it possible to compare builds fairly—and to see how much a 2025 recommendation has changed at current local prices.
