Account and internet requirements
EA’s Windows listing requires an EA account, an internet connection and installation of the EA app. Steam’s listing adds a Steam account linked to an EA account. Plan for that account-linking step when choosing Steam, and do not treat the game as a guaranteed offline product.

EA app or Steam?
Both options provide the Windows game, but the account setup differs:
- EA app: Requires the EA app, an EA account and an internet connection.
- Steam: Requires Steam, an EA account, an internet connection and a Steam account linked to EA.

The official purchase description treats Need for Speed Heat as a license to access digital content. The reviewed EA and Steam listings substantiate digital editions and downloadable add-ons, but not a physical edition, game-specific controller or steering wheel, branded replacement part, manual, soundtrack, collectible, toy or model kit.
