Which Fire TV devices support Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Xbox currently lists four compatible Amazon devices. The generation matters: support is not stated for every Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Cube.

These are the models on Xbox’s current cloud gaming page. Check the model and generation before buying or setting up a device; a similar product name alone does not establish compatibility.
What do you need to play?
- A Fire TV device from the supported list, with the Xbox app installed.
- A Microsoft account.
- A compatible Bluetooth controller.
- A high-speed internet connection.
- An eligible Game Pass subscription for most cloud games. Xbox also supports some free-to-play games, including Fortnite, with a free Microsoft account.
Xbox describes the service as “No TV or console required.” Games run on Microsoft’s cloud servers and stream to the Fire TV, so the Fire TV is not running them as a local console would. Xbox’s setup and account requirements are listed on its cloud gaming page and Xbox app for Fire TV page.

How to set up Xbox on Fire TV
- On a supported Fire TV device, find and install the Xbox app from the Fire TV app store.
- Open the app and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Put your Bluetooth controller into pairing mode, then pair it in the Fire TV’s Bluetooth settings. The exact menu wording can vary by Fire TV software version.
- In the Xbox app, choose a cloud-playable game available to your account and start streaming.
Amazon’s launch announcement described play using a Bluetooth-enabled controller, with no console required: About Amazon, June 27, 2024. The controller must be compatible; the source does not establish that every Bluetooth controller will work.
Do you need Game Pass?
For most games in the cloud catalog, yes: Xbox says an active Game Pass subscription is required. The plan and game must be eligible for cloud play in your country. What can you play, and what should you expect?
At launch, Microsoft and Amazon highlighted games including Starfield, Fallout 4, Forza Horizon 5 and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Amazon also described access to hundreds of cloud-enabled games. Those examples are not a promise that each title will remain available to every subscriber: catalog access changes with country, plan, licensing and time. Check the Xbox app for the games currently available to your account.
Cloud play depends on your internet connection and the game being streamed. Xbox calls for high-speed internet, but the cited official documentation does not set one universal minimum bandwidth, latency target or resolution guarantee for every Fire TV setup. Do not assume responsiveness or image quality will match playing locally on a console; connection conditions can affect the experience.

- Hardware cost: You need a supported Fire TV device rather than an Xbox console.
- Subscription: Most cloud games require an eligible Game Pass subscription; buying a console does not, by itself, remove any subscription requirement attached to a particular game or online feature.
- Game access: The cloud catalog depends on plan, market and changing availability.
- Internet dependence: Cloud gaming needs a reliable high-speed connection; local console play does not stream the game from Microsoft’s servers.
- Responsiveness and image: Streaming performance varies with the connection, and the official setup information does not promise a universal latency or image-quality level.
- Portability: A supported Fire TV device can be moved between compatible displays, but play still requires internet access and a controller.
