Logitech’s July 9, 2024 launch announcement introduced the G309 in black and white, with expected availability on LogitechG.com that day. The company listed a US suggested retail price of $79.99. Those are historical launch details, not a statement of current price, stock or color availability.
The G309 is a wireless gaming mouse with two connection options: Logitech LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth. Logitech positions LIGHTSPEED as its gaming mode. The product has a HERO 25K sensor, LIGHTFORCE hybrid optical-mechanical switches and six programmable buttons configurable in G HUB, according to Logitech’s product page and support specifications.
Battery life and wireless modes
Logitech claims more than 300 hours of continuous gameplay on one AA alkaline battery in LIGHTSPEED mode at a 1 ms report rate. Its stated Bluetooth runtime is more than 600 hours on that battery. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independent measurements; actual runtime may vary with use.

The published figures make Bluetooth the longer-runtime option, while LIGHTSPEED is the mode Logitech associates with gaming. The available specifications do not establish independently measured latency or battery endurance.
Choose between the AA and POWERPLAY setups
In its standard configuration, the G309 uses one AA alkaline battery. Logitech lists the mouse at 86 g with the battery installed. The alternative is to use a compatible POWERPLAY system, sold separately, and remove the AA battery; Logitech lists that configuration at 68 g. The company attributes the 18 g difference to the battery.

- POWERPLAY, no AA: Logitech says POWERPLAY lets the G309 operate without an AA battery, with a manufacturer-listed weight of 68 g. Confirm the specific POWERPLAY generation’s compatibility and current cost before choosing an accessory.
Logitech’s product materials describe POWERPLAY compatibility, but the cited specifications do not establish compatibility details for every generation or current accessory listing.
Dimensions and controls
Logitech Support lists the G309’s dimensions as 120 × 64 × 39 mm. Its six programmable buttons can be configured through G HUB. The cited product specifications identify the sensor and switch types but do not provide independent test results for sensor performance, click durability or hand fit.

Optional LIGHTSPEED receiver pairing
Logitech’s launch announcement says its LIGHTSPEED Device Pairing Tool in G HUB can pair two LIGHTSPEED devices to one receiver, citing the G515 TKL LIGHTSPEED keyboard as an example. This is an optional ecosystem feature, not a requirement for using the G309.

The announcement gives a useful snapshot of the G309’s launch positioning, wireless options, published runtimes and weight configurations. It does not establish today’s market price, inventory or value compared with competing mice.
