It adds symmetrical thumbsticks, two remappable rear paddles, adjustable controls through a companion app, and a separate rechargeable battery rated by SCUF for up to 16 hours. It does not work with Android, and case fit depends on the phone and case.
Does the SCUF Nomad work with my iPhone?
SCUF describes the Nomad as “Designed for iPhone and compatible with iOS 16+.” Before buying, compare your exact iPhone model with SCUF’s current supported-device list; the operating-system requirement alone does not guarantee physical fit.
The controller connects wirelessly over Bluetooth 5.0 rather than through a Lightning or USB-C plug. Game compatibility is handled by individual iOS titles, so a game must support external controllers for the Nomad’s controls to work. The companion app can organize supported games, but it cannot make an unsupported title controller-compatible.
Android compatibility
No. SCUF support identifies Android as incompatible. The Nomad is an iPhone-focused controller, not a cross-platform mobile gamepad.
#1 Best Overall
- IPHONE ONLY: Nomad is only compatible with iOS devices, starting with iPhone 8 up to iPhone 16 including Pro and Max models. This product is not compatible with Android at this time.
- ANTI-DRIFT THUMBSTICKS: Our Hall effect thumbsticks are more durable. These full-size thumbsticks have interchangeable tops (tall, domed, and concave) to adapt to your play style. Fine-tune the sensitivity of the thumbsticks in the SCUF App to fit your style of gameplay
- CUSTOMISABLE REAR PADDLES: The two paddles are ergonomically placed on the back of the controller for a natural feeling. Assign in-game actions to the paddles by remapping them to the ABXY or D-Pad functions to keep your thumbs on the sticks for faster reactions
- ERGONOMIC SHAPE: Designed to fit naturally in your hands, NOMAD’s larger size is more comfortable giving you an enhanced grip to play longer, and better
- 16 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE: Play your favorite controller supported games for up to 16 hours without worrying about draining your phone's battery. A USB-C cable is included for charging to get you back in the game
Is the SCUF Nomad worth it?
It is most compelling for iPhone players who want console-style controls, rear inputs for faster actions, and a controller that can be configured for different games. The value is less clear if you play only touch-first games, need Android support, or expect every iPhone title and streaming service to work automatically.
Reasons to consider it
- Two customizable rear paddles can move frequently used actions away from the face buttons.
- Symmetrical thumbsticks provide a familiar layout for many console and PC players.
- The app supports paddle mapping, stick and trigger sensitivity changes, saved profiles, game access, and capture or recording functions.
- The built-in battery means the controller does not draw operating power directly from the iPhone while connected wirelessly.
Reasons to pause
- There is no Android support.
- “Many” cases fit, but SCUF does not promise compatibility with every case, camera bump, or phone dimension.
- SCUF’s battery figure is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent test.
- Current street price, inventory, and support for services mentioned in older documentation can change.

How the Nomad app changes the experience
SCUF presents the companion app as free and subscription-free. Its functions include assigning inputs to the paddles, adjusting thumbstick and trigger sensitivity, saving profiles, launching controller-supported games, and using the SCUF button for capture or recording features. These settings are useful when different games require different layouts, but they do not override a game’s own controller limitations.

An older SCUF FAQ described support for more than 300 apps and named Xbox and Apple Arcade titles. It also discussed Steam Link and PS Remote Play as planned support. Because that information is time-sensitive and includes future plans, verify the current app listing and each service before treating those platforms as supported today.
Can you use the SCUF Nomad with an iPhone case?
SCUF says the Nomad accommodates many phone cases, not all cases. Slim and conventionally shaped cases are more likely to fit than bulky protective cases, cases with extended camera protection, or designs that alter the phone’s dimensions around the connector or grips. Check the case and phone combination with SCUF or the retailer’s current compatibility guidance before ordering.

Does it work with an iPad?
SCUF’s FAQ says the Nomad can work with iPads running iPadOS 16 or later. The companion app is not optimized for full-screen iPad use, so the hardware’s tablet compatibility does not mean the software offers an iPad-native interface.
How long does the battery last?
SCUF rates the Nomad for up to 16 hours on a charge. That is a maximum manufacturer estimate, not a laboratory or independent measurement; play style, wireless conditions, settings, and battery age can change actual runtime. Charging uses the controller’s USB-C port.

CORSAIR announced the Nomad at a $99 MSRP on May 30, 2024. SCUF’s support FAQ lists $99.99, but that is not confirmation of a current retail price. Check a live retailer for today’s price, stock, exact model or color, shipping region, and return policy.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to compare it with another phone controller
A fair comparison should use the same criteria rather than assuming a universal “best” controller:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- Controls: compare stick layout, paddles or rear buttons, trigger design, grip options, and remapping features.
- Software: identify the app requirements, profile tools, and the specific games or remote-play services you use.
- Ownership: compare current price, warranty, availability, included accessories, and return terms.
SCUF Nomad buying checklist
- Your iPhone appears on SCUF’s current supported list and runs iOS 16 or later.
- You do not need Android compatibility.
- Your case is likely to fit, or you are prepared to remove it while playing.
- Your games explicitly support iPhone controllers.
- You have checked the current app listing for the games and services you plan to use.
- The live price and warranty terms make sense for your region.
Bottom line
The SCUF Nomad is a focused choice for iPhone gamers who want remappable rear paddles, a symmetrical-stick layout, app-based profiles, and wireless play without relying on the phone’s battery to power the controller. Its main boundaries are decisive: Android is excluded, case fit is not universal, game support varies, and the 16-hour figure comes from SCUF rather than independent testing. Confirm your exact iPhone, case, games, and current price before buying.
