Roblox does not provide a universal private-server code box. To join, open the experience’s page, select Servers, and choose the private server listed for your account. If somebody sent you a “code,” ask whether they mean a private-server link or whether the owner must add your username or enable friend access.
How to join a Roblox private server

Open the Roblox experience you want to play.

Scroll to the experience’s Servers section.

Look under Private Servers. Roblox says this area shows private servers your account created or is a member of. Select the server and choose the join option.

If it is not listed, contact the owner. Ask them to send the server’s Roblox link, add your Roblox username under server members, or enable access for their friends list.
Roblox’s official Private / VIP Servers FAQ documents owner-created links and membership controls, not a general-purpose field where every player can paste a code. A string described as a “code” may therefore be a link, an experience-specific invite method, or an informal name for the server invitation.

What the server owner must configure
A private server is access-controlled. The owner can rename it, create a shareable link, allow their friends list, or add individual users. Roblox’s FAQ says the owner can include up to 50 individual users. If your account is not listed and you are not covered by the enabled friends option, a link alone may not grant access.
If you were sent a link
Open the link while signed in to the Roblox account that should play. Roblox should direct you to the relevant experience or server. If the server still does not appear in that experience’s Servers section, the owner should verify that your username is included or that friend access is enabled.

If you were sent a short code or text string
Do not paste it into a random Roblox menu or claim that it works everywhere. Ask the sender for the complete private-server link or for an explicit membership invitation. Some individual experiences may implement their own invitation systems, but that is different from Roblox’s platform-wide private-server workflow.
Check your privacy and age settings
Your account settings can block a join even when the owner intended to invite you. Roblox says users under 13 are, by default, limited to joining friends’ private servers, and only their friends can join that user’s own private server. Other privacy choices can be more restrictive.

Go to Privacy & content restrictions.

Open Visibility & private servers.

Review the available private-server and visibility choices for your account, age, and region.
Roblox documents this path in Online Status and Visibility. On a parent-managed account, the setting may instead be controlled through Parental Controls; Roblox’s Parental Controls Overview describes connection choices that can include Connections or Off.

Fix “Error Code 524” or a denied join
Roblox says Error Code 524 typically means you do not have permission to join the experience or private server. Check the causes in this order:

|---|---|
| Membership or invitation | Ask the owner to add your exact Roblox username under Server Members or enable Friends Allowed. |
| Privacy and age limits | Review Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers. A parent-managed account may require a change in Parental Controls. |
| Server availability | Try again later and confirm that the experience and the private server are still available. |
| Device or network issue | Restart Roblox, check your connection, and try the owner’s link again while signed into the correct account. |
If the server is visible in the Servers section but joining fails, send the owner the exact error and have them recheck your membership and access settings before troubleshooting your device.

Joining is different from creating a private server
You do not need to buy a physical item to follow an invitation or join a server. Creating a private server is a separate action for the owner; Roblox’s FAQ notes that the experience creator sets its Robux price and that the charge can recur monthly. An invited player does not normally pay that creation charge.
Quick answer
There is no Roblox-wide private-server code entry screen. Open the experience, use Servers, and select a server your account is allowed to join. When someone says “private server code,” request the owner’s Roblox link or ask them to add your username, then check your privacy, age, and parental-control settings if access is denied.
