Short answer: The ASUS ROG Ally Travel Case is the best slim official case for the original 2023 ROG Ally, while the ASUS ROG Ally Premium Hard Case is the safer first-party choice for either the original Ally or the 2024 ROG Ally X. For a fitted shell that stays on during play, choose the model-specific JSAUX ModCase. Buyers who need charger and accessory room should look at a JSAUX double-layer case or another structured pouch.
Compatibility comes first. “ROG Ally” can refer to the 2023 RC71L, 2024 ROG Ally X (RC72LA), or the separate 2025 ROG Xbox Ally models. A case for one chassis is not automatically suitable for another. Confirm the exact model selector before ordering.
ROG Ally models are not interchangeable
The original ROG Ally launched in 2023. The ROG Ally X arrived in 2024 with a redesigned body, an 80Wh battery and a revised dual-USB-C port layout, so a fitted case made for the original can be too narrow or misalign controls and ports. ASUS identifies the product families separately in its device listings.
Do not buy a case just because its title says “ROG Ally.” Check whether it specifies ROG Ally (2023), ROG Ally X (2024), ROG Xbox Ally (2025), or ROG Xbox Ally X (2025). The newer Xbox-branded models are a separate generation.

Official ASUS cases
ASUS ROG Ally Travel Case: best slim official option for the 2023 Ally
ASUS’s Travel Case is a soft, sleeve-style case with a fleece liner, water-repellent PU exterior, YKK zipper and a fold-out stand function. ASUS USA listed it at $39.99 in August 2026. See the official product page.
It makes sense when the console normally travels inside another backpack and you want scratch protection without much bulk. Storage is limited, however, so it is not a good match for a large charger, dock, power bank or thick fitted shell. A regional ASUS specification sheet explicitly excludes the ROG Ally X, while regional listings can differ; check your local page and model number before buying (ASUS specification sheet).
ASUS ROG Ally Premium Hard Case: best official choice for Ally X
The Premium Hard Case is the most straightforward first-party recommendation for an Ally X. ASUS states compatibility with both the original Ally and Ally X. It has a water-repellent PU-coated exterior, plush lining, a stand function, microSD/card storage and a compartment intended for the 65W charger. Listed dimensions are approximately 30 × 14 × 8.6 cm and listed weight is 515 g (specifications).
The trade-off is size and weight: it is considerably less compact than the Travel Case. The 65W compartment should not be assumed to fit every 100W or 140W replacement charger, and a bulky grip shell may still require a fit check. ASUS’s current US specification page did not show a clear numeric price, so verify local price and stock at the official listing.
Best third-party travel cases
JSAUX double-layer travel case: best budget storage layout
JSAUX describes a two-level design with a console compartment, lower accessory compartment, screen divider, carrying strap and reinforced structure. Its collection page showed a $29.99 sale price in August 2026; sale pricing and stock can change (product page, collection).

This is the practical choice for a charger, cables, games or small accessories, but the current product naming emphasizes ROG Xbox Ally models. Confirm that the selector explicitly includes your 2023 Ally or 2024 Ally X. Do not overfill the accessory layer: pressure from stored items can reach the display, and a thick ModCase or grip may not fit.
Tomtoc FancyCase-G02: best slim third-party design
Tomtoc’s Ally collection includes the FancyCase-G02 slim case. A current Tomtoc protective-case page lists newer Xbox Ally versions at approximately 11.73 × 4.92 × 2.87 inches and 254 g, but those figures should not automatically be applied to the 2024 Ally X. Confirm the exact version on the Ally collection and product page. Slim construction generally leaves less room for a charger or installed shell.
Spigen Rugged Armor Pro Pouch: best conventional pouch
Spigen lists the Rugged Armor Pro Pouch for the ROG Ally (2023) and ROG Ally X (2024), making it a useful structured alternative to ASUS’s soft Travel Case. It is a pouch for transport, not a fitted shell for playing, and Spigen does not establish independent drop-test performance. Check clearance if you use a thick shell, grip or travel cover (Spigen product page).

Skull & Co. Maxcarry-style cases: for existing grip users
These cases are most compelling when you already use a Skull & Co. grip. User discussions report good perceived fit but also limited charger space and occasional concern about padding or a snug fit pressing the Ally X power button. Those are anecdotal reports, not controlled testing; review the current Skull & Co. model listing and test the button and stick clearance before regular travel. JSAUX ModCase: best modular protective shell
The ModCase is a fitted shell rather than a transport pouch. JSAUX lists separate versions for the original Ally, Ally X and newer ROG Xbox Ally models. Its described features include a detachable front cover, stand, strap, airflow cutouts and microSD storage in the cover, with optional modular accessories (JSAUX ModCase page).

Choose it if you want protection and a stand while the handheld remains in your hands. Optional straps, fan-related parts or power-bank mounts add bulk and cost, and a fitted shell may not fit inside a compact travel case. Any cooling benefit is a JSAUX product claim unless independent measurements are available.
dbrand Killswitch: premium ecosystem, not a universal answer
Killswitch is aimed at buyers who want a premium shell ecosystem with travel-cover, stand and skin options. The complete system can cost substantially more than a pouch, and combining a shell, skin, cover and another travel case can create fit problems. Check current Ally and Ally X availability, pricing and compatibility directly at dbrand before treating it as an option.
How to choose the right case
Choose the category before the brand
- Sleeve or travel case: transport and scratch protection; the device is removed for play.
- Fitted shell: grip and impact protection while playing; usually needs a separate travel pouch.
- Modular case: adds a stand, cover, strap or other attachments, with more bulk.
- Structured clamshell: best for backpacks and accessories, but heavier.
Check the complete loadout
List everything that must fit: the ASUS 65W charger, USB-C cable, power bank, dock, earbuds, microSD cards, grip, stand, travel cover and any skin. A case that fits a bare Ally may not fit the same device with a ModCase, Killswitch or silicone grip installed.
Inspect pressure and access points
- Power button and analog sticks should not be pressed.
- The display should not touch stored accessories.
- Exhaust vents, USB-C ports and the microSD slot should remain accessible.
- The device should slide in without force or excessive zipper pressure.
Match the stand to your use
ASUS’s two cases and the JSAUX ModCase provide stand functionality, but a stand for watching video is not automatically stable enough for charging or a separate controller. Removable stands and covers can also increase travel bulk.
