Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.11.1 is a genuine AMD driver released on November 6, 2020, but it is now an archived Optional release. Download it only when you need this exact version for a game, application, rollback, or fixed retro-PC setup. Use AMD’s product-specific Previous Drivers page rather than a third-party download host, and confirm your exact GPU before installing.

What Radeon Software Adrenalin 20.11.1 is

20.11.1 is a historical release of AMD’s Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition suite, not a graphics card or separate utility. Depending on the hardware and installation choices, it includes the display driver, Radeon settings, game profiles, performance metrics, recording features, and tuning controls.

AMD’s release announcement identifies these related version numbers:

Identifier Value Meaning
Adrenalin release 20.11.1 The user-facing Radeon Software release name
Driver package 20.20.33.02 AMD’s package driver version
Windows Driver Store 27.20.12033.2007 The version Windows may display

AMD’s announcement is available at AMD’s 20.11.1 release announcement.

Release date, status, and package size

  • Release date: November 6, 2020.
  • Archive classification: Optional.
  • Package size: AMD shows about 430 MB on several product pages; the download size can differ by product family.
  • Era: A legacy, primarily 64-bit Windows 10-era package. Verify the operating-system requirement on your exact archive entry instead of assuming native Windows 11 support.

AMD later listed 20.11.2 as Recommended (WHQL) on November 18, 2020, and 20.11.3 as Optional on November 30. Those labels do not make 20.11.1 a WHQL release.

Official AMD download path

AMD generates downloads from each product page, so there is no dependable universal 20.11.1 installer link. Use this process:

  1. Identify the exact graphics product in Device Manager, Radeon Software, Windows System Information, or a tool such as GPU-Z.
  2. Classify it as a desktop Radeon card, laptop Radeon, Ryzen integrated graphics, Radeon Pro, or another professional product.
  3. Open the matching product page on AMD’s RX 580 Previous Drivers archive, RX 590 archive, RX 5300 archive, or the archive for your own model.
  4. Choose Previous Drivers, locate Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.11.1 Optional, and verify the date and product.
  5. Download only from an AMD domain. Avoid repackaged executables and driver-updater sites.

For Ryzen integrated graphics, AMD’s archive example is the Ryzen 3 3300U Previous Drivers page. AMD may remove or change individual archive entries over time.

Hardware compatibility and laptop cautions

AMD’s archive exposes 20.11.1 for multiple Radeon RX 5000-series, RX 500-series, Radeon 400/500-series, mobile Radeon, and Ryzen integrated-graphics products. That does not prove compatibility with every Radeon device. The exact model page must list the release.

ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card
  • Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
  • 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
  • Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs
  • 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence

Laptop, mini-PC, and all-in-one owners should normally try the computer maker’s graphics driver first. OEM packages can contain validation and customizations for brightness, switchable graphics, sleep/wake, hotkeys, USB-C display output, and power profiles. AMD explains this OEM consideration in its installation guidance. Radeon Pro workstations require the Radeon Pro driver branch, not consumer Adrenalin.

What 20.11.1 added

Launch support

The release highlighted support and optimizations for DIRT 5, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Godfall, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

AMD’s Godfall result

AMD reported an average 7% improvement in Godfall on a Radeon RX 5700 XT using DirectX 12 and the High setting compared with 20.10.1. This was AMD’s test result under its stated conditions, not a guaranteed gain on every system.

Known issues in 20.11.1

Enhanced Sync black screens

Enhanced Sync could produce a black screen in some games and system configurations. If this occurs, disable Enhanced Sync and retest. This is a driver workaround, not evidence that the GPU is defective.

Incorrect RX 5700-series idle-clock reporting

The Performance Metrics Overlay and Performance Tuning tab could show higher-than-expected idle clocks on Radeon RX 5700-series cards. AMD described this as a reporting error and stated that performance and power consumption were not affected by the incorrect display.

HDMI Scaling and a 30-FPS lock

Changing the HDMI Scaling slider could lock frame rate at 30 FPS. Restore the previous scaling value, restart Radeon Software, and test the game again.

Install 20.11.1 safely

Prepare first

  • Confirm the exact GPU and that Windows is 64-bit.
  • Create a restore point or verify that a backup exists.
  • Download the required package before removing a newer driver if you are downgrading.
  • On a laptop, obtain the OEM package as a fallback.

Run the installer

  1. Right-click the downloaded AMD installer and run it as administrator.
  2. Allow hardware detection, then choose the normal or custom installation path offered by the installer.
  3. Use Factory Reset only when a clean reinstall is necessary; save any profiles or settings first.
  4. Finish the installation and restart Windows.
  5. Open Radeon Software and test the game or application that required 20.11.1.

Current AMD installation instructions explain the general process, but the labels and layout in the 2020 installer may differ from today’s interface.

Verify the installed driver

Use one of these checks:

  • Radeon Software: open Settings, then System, and view Driver and Software information.
  • Device Manager: open Display adapters, select the AMD GPU, choose Properties, then Driver.
  • DirectX Diagnostic Tool: press Win+R, enter dxdiag, open the Display tab, and read the driver information.

Windows may show 27.20.12033.2007 while Radeon Software identifies the release as 20.11.1 and the package as 20.20.33.02. These are different identifiers for the same release family.

Recover from installation or downgrade problems

Installer refuses to install

  • Recheck that the GPU model is listed on the selected AMD product page.
  • Confirm that you downloaded a Windows consumer Radeon package, not Linux or Radeon Pro software.
  • Check that Windows is 64-bit.
  • Consider whether an OEM-specific package is required.
  • After installation, check whether Windows Update replaced the driver.

Do not force a package intended for another GPU family.

Black screen or repeated driver crashes

  1. Wait several minutes after installation in case Windows is completing device setup.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. If necessary, enter Windows Safe Mode.
  4. Roll back in Device Manager or reinstall the previously working package.
  5. If you retry 20.11.1, disable Enhanced Sync first.
  6. For a laptop, switch to the manufacturer’s driver if generic AMD software continues to fail.

Games remain capped at 30 FPS

Check whether HDMI Scaling was changed immediately before the cap appeared. Restore the scaling setting, restart Radeon Software, and test again.
