Story progression gives you an incomplete domain, but a complete version requires a Domain Shard, a Skill Shop purchase, and a keybind. Most domains also need a fully charged Domain Meter before activation.
How to unlock Domain Expansion
- Progress through the story. This eventually unlocks an incomplete Domain Expansion for your character.
- Reach the progression requirements. The progression reference says you must be max level and have fully mastered the relevant innate technique before using a Domain Shard.
- Obtain a Domain Shard. A shard unlocks one full domain for an eligible innate technique.
- Buy the domain ability. Open the Skills menu, purchase the full domain in the Skill Shop, then equip it to an available keybind.
What the incomplete domain does
An incomplete domain supplies basic damage and defense buffs. It does not include the complete domain’s special gimmick or sure-hit behavior, so it is a progression milestone rather than the finished ability.
How to get a Domain Shard
Community references list four possible routes:
- Chest drops
- The Curse Market
- Player trading
- A random map spawn
The Jujutsu Infinite Wiki (Fandom) lists a 0.1% chest chance and a 1/100 server chance for the random spawn. These are undated community-wiki estimates, not published developer rates, and can change after a patch. Treat them as approximate rather than guaranteed odds.
Shard-use requirements
The progression reference states that your character must be max level and must have fully mastered the innate technique before the shard can be used. A shard unlocks one domain for one eligible innate technique; it does not make every technique domain-capable.

The September 2026 guide lists these eligible techniques:
- Infinity
- Demon Vessel
- Gambler Fever
- Soul Manipulation
- Ancient Construction
- Star Rage
- Curse Queen
- Thunder God
- Soul King
- Volcano
- Hydrokinesis
- Judgeman
- Plant Manipulation
- Projection
Community domain lists can lag behind live updates. If an innate was added or changed recently, check its current in-game Skills menu before spending a shard or currency.

How to charge and activate the Domain Meter
Most Domain Expansions require the Domain Meter to reach 100%. The current guide says the meter fills when you deal damage or take damage, so active combat is the normal way to charge it.
Gambler Fever exception
The domains reference identifies Gambler Fever as an exception to the usual meter rule. Its activation behavior does not follow the standard requirement described for most other domains; check the live ability description for the current implementation.

When activation is blocked
A player already inside a domain generally cannot activate another domain normally. When nearby players activate domains at nearly the same time, the game instead starts a Domain Clash.
How to win a Domain Clash
A Domain Clash is a timing minigame rather than a conventional damage race. The interface shows a red bar and a light-blue section.

- Watch the moving red bar.
- Press M1 when the red bar aligns with the light-blue section.
- Aim for the middle of the light-blue section: the guide says a central hit produces a stronger clash.
- Repeat the timing accurately; the player with better precision wins the clash.
Do not click randomly or prioritize speed over alignment. Precise M1 timing is the practical factor the guide emphasizes for improving your chance of taking control of the clash.

Choosing a domain for PvE or PvP
There is no authoritative current tier list, exact cooldown table, or developer balance dataset that supports naming one domain the objective best. Compare a domain against your own use case instead:

- Innate fit: You can only use the domain tied to your equipped, mastered technique.
- Effect type: Check whether its complete version supplies a sure-hit effect, damage pattern, defensive value, or another special gimmick.
- Meter access: If your build struggles to deal or absorb damage safely, reaching 100% may be harder in ordinary fights.
- PvE role: Favor reliable area pressure and survivability for missions and groups of enemies.
- PvP role: Favor effects you can activate without being interrupted and a clash timing setup you can execute consistently.
- Clash reliability: Your M1 timing matters whenever another player contests the activation.
If you miss the related progression quest
The Retry Max/Domain guide places the Retry NPC at the back right of the crafting area. Its Dimensional Maximum Scroll retry quest requires level 360 or higher. After a failure, the quest can be taken again every five minutes. This retry route concerns the associated progression quest; it is not an additional Domain Shard source.
Patch and live-service caveat
Eligible techniques, meter behavior, shard availability, drop rates, and level requirements are live-service mechanics. The details above reflect the September 2026 guide and the cited community references. Recheck the in-game tooltips and Skill Shop after updates, especially before trading for a shard or committing resources to a newly changed innate.
