There is no native Windows version of God of War III Remastered. The remaster is a PS4 game. On a PC, the legitimate options are PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming—if the game has a Stream button in your country—or Remote Play from a PS4 or PS5. You can also play it locally on either console. RPCS3 is not a solution for the remaster: it emulates the original PS3 release of God of War III, not the PS4 edition.
Is God of War III Remastered available for Windows?
No. Sony’s official listing identifies God of War III Remastered as a PS4 Version, released on July 14, 2015. It is playable on PS5, although the Store listing warns that some PS4 features may be absent. Sony’s current God of War PC page lists God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök as PC releases, not the Greek-era remaster.
Sources: PlayStation Store listing and Sony’s God of War page.
Consequently, there is no Windows executable, Steam or Epic installation, or PC license created by buying the PS4 version. Purchasing God of War (2018) or Ragnarök on PC does not include God of War III Remastered.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
Method 1: Stream it with PlayStation Plus Premium
PlayStation Plus Premium is the only official route that can put the remaster on a Windows screen without owning a console. It is conditional, not universal: Sony says catalog and cloud-streaming availability varies by country and that some games cannot be streamed. The US Store page currently displays a Premium access prompt for the game, but you must verify the title in the PC app before subscribing.
US Premium prices shown by Sony on August 18, 2026 were $19.99 monthly, $54.99 for three months, and $159.99 for 12 months. These are recurring prices and can change. The Store listing separately shows a current US purchase price of $19.99; that purchase is for PS4 and does not create a Windows installation.
Check Sony’s PlayStation Plus page, the game catalog, and catalog support information for your region.
PC streaming requirements
- An adult PlayStation Network account.
- A Windows PC with the PlayStation Plus PC app (Sony’s support page lists approximately 300 MB of storage and at least 2 GB of RAM).
- PlayStation Plus Premium for cloud streaming.
- A compatible controller. Sony specifically lists DUALSHOCK 4; some third-party XInput controllers may work but are not guaranteed.
- Broadband internet: 5 Mbps minimum, with 15 Mbps recommended for 1080p streaming.
Sony’s support page still mentions older Windows requirements such as Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Check the current installer and requirements before paying, because platform support can change.

Step-by-step: stream the game on a Windows PC
- Open Sony’s PC page: go to PlayStation Plus on PC and download the official app.
- Install and sign in: use an adult PlayStation Network account. If necessary, choose the Premium plan.
- Connect a controller first: pair a DUALSHOCK 4 or another controller supported by the app before starting a session. Keyboard and mouse can navigate the application, but Sony requires a compatible controller for gameplay.
- Search for the title: enter God of War III Remastered in the app.
- Check the button: continue only if the listing has a Stream option in your region. A purchase listing without that button does not prove that PC streaming is available.
- Start streaming: select Stream and wait for the session to connect.
- Stabilize the connection: use Ethernet where possible, stop large downloads, and avoid a VPN if video quality or input response is poor.
Cloud streaming can involve queues, compression and input latency. It is convenient when you do not want a console, but it cannot guarantee the same responsiveness or image quality as local play.
Method 2: Play locally on PS4 or PS5
The remaster’s native platform is PS4. The PlayStation Store listing says it is playable on PS5 through backward compatibility. Local console play avoids streaming artifacts, server queues and internet-related input delay, and it keeps working independently of a streaming catalog.
The listing describes a 1080p, 60 fps target for the PS4 remaster. That is the console version’s stated presentation target—not a guarantee of 1080p/60 fps from PC streaming, and not a promise of PC graphics settings.
The US Store currently shows the digital PS4 version at $19.99, but price and discounts can change. See the official listing. A PS4 or PS5 is still required to run that purchase.

- Precise control: features Hall joysticks and Hall triggers for a comfortable feeling, long service life and improved game accuracy.
- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.
- Customizable experience: Includes 2 custom backbuttons that allow users to eliminate false triggers and improve their gaming experience.
- Impressive gameplay: Provides a pulsating vibration trigger and an asymmetric vibration grip motor for intense tactile feedback.
Method 3: Use PS Remote Play on your PC
Remote Play is useful if you own the game and a PS4 or PS5 but want to use a Windows laptop or desktop display. The game runs on the console; the PC receives its video and sends controller input. It is not a Windows installation or emulation.
- Install Sony’s official PS Remote Play application for Windows.
- Enable Remote Play on the PS4 or PS5.
- Sign in to the application with the same PlayStation Network account used on the console.
- Connect or pair a compatible controller with the PC.
- Connect to the console and launch God of War III Remastered from the console interface.
The console must be powered on or configured for a supported rest-mode connection. Sony’s Remote Play information is available at Sony support. Sony also states that Remote Play is unavailable while streaming PlayStation Plus games, so do not plan to combine the two services as a workaround.
Can RPCS3 run the remastered edition?
No. RPCS3 is a PlayStation 3 emulator. God of War III Remastered is a PS4 release, so RPCS3 cannot provide its remastered assets or PS4 build. RPCS3 is relevant only if you specifically want the original PS3 God of War III.
Any lawful PS3 emulation requires your own legally obtained game data and firmware, and must comply with local law. Do not download PKG, RAP, ISO, BIOS or firmware files from unofficial sites. Consult the official RPCS3 site and its compatibility documentation for the separate PS3 version.

Troubleshooting
The Store shows the game, but I cannot install it on Windows
That is expected. The Store product is a PS4 license. Use Premium streaming if the PC app offers it, play on PS4/PS5, or use Remote Play from a console.
There is no Stream button
- Confirm that your membership is Premium, not Essential or Extra.
- Check that your account and store region support cloud streaming.
- Determine whether the game is currently streamable rather than merely purchasable.
- Update the PC app and sign in to the correct account.
Sony warns that some games are unavailable to stream and that catalog contents change by region and over time. Verify the listing directly in the app.
The game starts but the controls do nothing
Connect a DUALSHOCK 4 or another supported controller before launching. Sony requires a compatible controller for gameplay through the PC app; keyboard and mouse are not a guaranteed control method.
The image is blurry or controls feel delayed
- Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
- Stop other downloads and video streams.
- Avoid VPN routing.
- Use a wired controller where possible.
- Check the 5 Mbps minimum and 15 Mbps 1080p guidance.
- If latency remains unacceptable, play locally on PS4/PS5.
See Sony’s connection guidance at PlayStation Plus support.

Do not use it. Unofficial downloads may contain copyrighted game files, malware or account-stealing software. Use Sony’s Store, PlayStation Plus and Remote Play services instead.

What the announced Greek-trilogy remake means
Sony announced in February 2026 that a God of War Greek-trilogy remake is in development. That announcement is not the release of God of War III Remastered, does not replace the current PS4 remaster, and does not establish a Windows release date. Treat it as future context only; the announcement is at PlayStation Blog.
For now, choose Premium streaming only after confirming the game is streamable in the PC app. Otherwise, use a PS4/PS5 locally or Remote Play. There is no legitimate native PC version of the remaster to install.
