What makes Cartethyia different
Cartethyia is a 5-star Aero Resonator who wields a sword. She is described by current community guides as the first HP-scaling DPS in Wuthering Waves, so maximum HP is an offensive stat rather than merely a survivability stat.
Her kit has a base form and the Fleurdelys form. In the base form, build Sword Shadows with Basic Attacks and Skill use. A plunge after creating three Sword Shadows lets you enter the enhanced Fleurdelys sequence with Liberation, where most of her damage is dealt. Aero Erosion stacks amplify this plan, making stack generation and timing more important than simply pressing Liberation on cooldown.
Best Echoes and stats
Use five-piece Windward Pilgrimage
Windward Pilgrimage is the default Sonata for Cartethyia. Its first effect grants 10% Aero DMG. Against targets affected by Aero Erosion, the set can add another 30% Aero DMG and 10% CRIT Rate for 10 seconds. Because Cartethyia’s strongest window is built around Aero Erosion, this condition matches her normal team rotation.

This 4-4-1-1-1 arrangement supplies the critical stats needed by a DPS while stacking the HP that scales her damage. Do not replace the 1-cost HP% pieces with generic offensive stats unless a future balance change alters her scaling.
Main Echo: Reminiscence: Fleurdelys
Put Reminiscence: Fleurdelys in the main Echo slot. Current build guides recommend it for unconditional Aero DMG and an additional Cartethyia-specific benefit, so it remains the most direct fit for her enhanced form.

Substat order
- Roll Energy Regen until your planned rotation consistently reaches Liberation when needed.
- Prioritize CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG together rather than overstacking one and neglecting the other.
- Take HP% next, followed by Basic Attack DMG% or Liberation DMG% according to the substats available on your pieces.
- Use flat HP as a lower-priority improvement after the percentage and critical requirements are met.
Weapons: signature first, then practical alternatives
Defier’s Thorn is the signature sword and the most direct choice for Cartethyia’s HP and Aero-Erosion game plan. If you do not have it, select a weapon according to the stat your account is missing instead of treating every alternative as equal.

Match the weapon to your build’s bottleneck: CRIT weapons can solve an imbalanced ratio, Energy Regen can make the second Liberation reliable, and HP support becomes more valuable when your Echoes lack percentage HP.

Best Cartethyia teams
Premium team: Cartethyia, Ciaccona, Chisa
Ciaccona is the preferred partner because she applies Aero Erosion off-field, allowing Cartethyia to keep attacking while the target receives the stacks required by her enhanced damage. A current Prydwen guide lists a 17.5% Aero DMG amplification lasting 20 seconds in this setup; treat that number as guide-specific and recheck it after balance patches.
Chisa is the premium third slot when you want the highest possible Erosion ceiling. In the cited guide’s example, Chisa raises the maximum stack count to six, giving the team a larger payoff when the rotation is completed before the Fleurdelys burst window.

Choosing the third slot for your account

Compare these choices by five practical questions: how quickly the team creates Aero Erosion, whether six stacks are available, how long buffs remain active, who heals the party, and how much field time each support consumes. Single-wave stages reward a fully prepared burst; multi-wave stages often favor Shorekeeper’s healing and faster, safer rotations.
Free-to-play fallback
Prydwen identifies Sanhua as the best free-to-play partner because she buffs Basic Attack damage and has a very short field time. Run Cartethyia with Sanhua, then fill the final slot with the healer or support your account can maintain reliably. This team gives up specialized Aero-Erosion support, so its damage window is less demanding but also less amplified.

Cartethyia rotation
The key rule is simple: build Erosion and the required setup before spending the enhanced Liberation window. A practical sequence is:
- Enter with your supports and apply their buffs. Use Ciaccona’s off-field tools first when she is on the team so Aero Erosion is already being generated.
- Switch to Cartethyia and use Basic Attacks and Skill actions to build Sword Shadows.
- Create three Sword Shadows before committing to the plunge. Do not rush Liberation while the setup is incomplete.
- Use the mid-air plunge from the base form, then cancel into Liberation to enter Fleurdelys.
- In Fleurdelys form, run the enhanced Skill and Basic Attack chain while Aero Erosion and team buffs are active.
- Continue the sequence until the Conviction cycle is complete. Save the second Liberation for this completed cycle rather than spending it early.
- Use the Outro, rotate through your supports, and repeat once the next Erosion and energy requirements are ready.
Cartethyia’s damage is concentrated in the Fleurdelys section, so a shorter rotation with all required stacks is generally better than an earlier Liberation that misses the Sonata condition or Conviction timing.
Target numbers for a finished build
Current Prydwen guide benchmarks are approximately 35,000–50,000 or more HP, 65–80% or more CRIT Rate, 240–270% or more CRIT DMG, and 110% or more Energy Regen. These are practical guide targets, not guaranteed thresholds: weapon, Resonance Chain, support buffs, Echo quality, and the exact rotation all change the amount you need.
Raise Energy Regen first if the second Liberation is late. Once the rotation is comfortable, spend new rolls on a balanced CRIT pair, then HP%, rather than sacrificing a reliable burst cycle for a paper attack-stat increase.
