On August 18, 2026, the ASUS Store listed the standard ROG Xbox Ally at ₹67,990 (MRP ₹83,990) and the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X at ₹139,990 (MRP ₹149,990). These are promotional prices, not permanent MSRPs, and stock, delivery and offers depend on your PIN code and checkout.
India price, availability and warranty
The standard model is listed as ROG Xbox Ally RC73 (the Indian product directory also identifies the RC73YA-NH010W configuration), with ASUS Store part number 90NV00H-1. The Ally X is listed as RC73XA-NH016W.

Buy through the official ASUS Store listing for the ROG Xbox Ally or the Ally X listing. The store advertises taxes included, free shipping, selected-PIN-code next-day delivery, eligible no-cost EMI and optional extended-warranty offers; all are subject to checkout terms. The store is operated by authorised reseller AYR Technologies, so retain your invoice and verify the exact SKU warranty at purchase. The standard page states a one-year manufacturer’s limited warranty; the Ally X specification table shows a one-year international warranty.
ASUS’s India editorial page still cites ₹69,990 for the standard Ally and ₹114,990 for the Ally X. Those figures are older reference or launch-page prices, not the live store prices above. ASUS also says resellers may set their own prices, so retailer listings can differ.

The original preorder campaign ran from 7 October 2025 at 2 p.m. IST to 16 October 2025 at 5 p.m. IST. It offered one year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plus a ROG Slash sling bag for ₹1,499 with the standard model or ₹499 with the Ally X. That was a historical promotion, not a guaranteed current bundle. The terms are in ASUS’s preorder document.

ASUS’s India ROG Ally directory identifies the processors and memory, while its India comparison article supplies the standard model’s battery, storage, brightness and weight details. The Ally X specifications come from its ASUS Store page.
What the hardware means for gaming
Standard ROG Xbox Ally
The standard Ally is the lower-cost, lighter option. Its 16GB of onboard memory and 512GB SSD suit indie games, older PC titles, esports and a moderate library. A 512GB drive will fill quickly once Windows and several large AAA games are installed, and memory is not user-upgradable.
ROG Xbox Ally X
The Ally X adds the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, 24GB dual-channel memory, a 1TB SSD, an 80Wh battery and USB4-capable connectivity. It is better suited to memory-hungry games and higher power modes, while its redesigned grips, Hall-effect triggers and impulse-trigger haptics target a more controller-like feel. The trade-off is a higher price and a 715g chassis.

Both systems are Windows gaming PCs, not traditional Xbox consoles. Modern demanding games may require a lower render resolution, upscaling, reduced graphics settings or a frame-rate cap. A 120Hz panel can display up to 120 refreshes per second; it does not make every game run at 120 frames per second. Performance depends on the game, preset, resolution, power mode, cooling, BIOS and driver versions, anti-cheat and whether the device is plugged in.
Xbox integration and game access
Windows 11 provides access to Xbox PC games, compatible Xbox Play Anywhere titles, Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. Xbox Cloud Gaming is available where supported with the required subscription, and Xbox Remote Play can stream from a compatible Xbox console. ASUS describes an Xbox full-screen experience that can launch at startup; the Xbox button opens Game Bar and the Command Center exposes performance and device controls.

- Cloud gaming needs a reliable internet connection and a supported subscription.
- Offline play depends on the individual game, launcher and account authentication.
- Some PC games still need a keyboard, mouse, touchscreen or separate launcher interaction.
- Anti-cheat systems, small text and controller support can make individual titles less suitable for handheld play.
The Ally X store page currently advertises three months of Xbox Game Pass Premium with purchase, subject to redemption terms. Check the offer at checkout rather than treating it as permanent value. The current subscription information is on the Xbox India Game Pass page.
Screen, controls, battery and portability
Both models use a 7-inch 16:9, 1920×1080 touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 500-nit brightness. That resolution is sharp at this size, but demanding games can benefit from rendering at 720p or using upscaling. The white standard Ally weighs about 670g; the black Ally X weighs 715g and has contoured, Xbox-controller-inspired grips.

Capacity is 60Wh versus 80Wh, not a guaranteed number of gaming hours. Runtime changes with TDP, brightness, refresh rate, Wi-Fi, game engine, frame-rate cap, performance mode, battery health and temperature. Higher power modes also increase heat and fan noise. A charger or power bank is sensible for long sessions, particularly on the standard model.

ASUS states that both models use a replaceable M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. A larger drive can be installed, but it is an additional cost and may require cloning or reinstalling Windows. Check ASUS India’s current warranty and service terms before opening the device; user-installed parts and accidental damage are not automatically covered.
- The standard model’s 512GB is nominal capacity; Windows and recovery partitions reduce usable space.
- A microSD card is convenient, but loading speed and durability may differ from the internal SSD, especially for demanding games.
- The Ally X starts with 1TB, reducing the immediate need for an upgrade.
Which model should you buy?
Choose the standard Ally when
- ₹67,990 is your realistic budget.
- You mainly play indie, older, competitive or moderately demanding games.
- 16GB memory and 512GB storage are acceptable.
- Lower weight matters more than maximum performance.
Choose the Ally X when
- You regularly play demanding AAA games and can justify ₹139,990.
- The 80Wh battery, 24GB memory and 1TB SSD matter more than weight.
- You want USB4 flexibility, dual-channel memory and the redesigned controls.
Consider something else when
- You prefer a console-like operating system with less Windows management.
- OLED contrast, a larger display or a different control layout is more important.
- You already own a gaming laptop and need only a secondary device.
- The Ally X price is close to what you would spend on a more powerful gaming laptop.
Alternatives and extra costs
Steam Deck OLED offers a simpler console-style experience and an OLED screen, but has a different compatibility and performance profile. Lenovo Legion Go models emphasise a larger display and distinctive controls, usually with greater weight and different battery trade-offs. MSI Claw models use another processor platform and should be compared model by model for performance and software maturity. A gaming laptop is generally more powerful and upgradeable but is not a handheld replacement. A discounted original ROG Ally or Ally X may be attractive, provided you verify the processor generation, battery, ports and warranty.
Prices and current availability for these alternatives were not established here, so check each manufacturer’s or retailer’s live listing before buying. Budget separately for a case, USB-C dock, storage upgrade and Game Pass if you need them. A dock must support the required USB-C power delivery and display output; the Ally X includes a 65W USB-C adapter according to its store listing.

Verdict
The standard ROG Xbox Ally is the sensible entry point to ASUS’s Xbox-integrated Windows handheld: it costs less, weighs less and covers a broad PC library, but its 16GB memory and 512GB SSD impose limits. The Ally X is a premium purchase whose extra ₹72,000 buys materially more memory, storage, battery capacity, connectivity and performance headroom. Buy it when those benefits match your games and session length; otherwise, the standard Ally—or a verified discounted alternative—offers the clearer value.
