Starfield is already available on PlayStation 5: Bethesda released it on April 7, 2026. The launch arrived with the Free Lanes update and Terran Armada story DLC. Microsoft has also announced several other PS5 releases, but its plans are title-specific—not a promise that every Xbox exclusive will come to PlayStation.
Starfield’s PS5 release: what’s available
Bethesda announced the PS5 version on March 17, 2026, and made it available on April 7. Its announcement paired the release with the Free Lanes update and Terran Armada DLC across platforms. Bethesda’s news listing subsequently marked the game available on PS5.

The PS5 version supports DualSense features including weapon-specific adaptive triggers, light-bar indicators for health and ship integrity, touchpad shortcuts, and controller-speaker audio. Bethesda also described two PS5 Pro graphics modes: Visual mode at 4K and 30 frames per second, or Performance mode at 60 frames per second with improved visuals. Starfield PS5 editions and formats
Bethesda lists Standard and Premium editions for PS5 in both physical and digital formats. The Premium Edition Upgrade is digital only and requires the base game separately. Bethesda’s edition listing does not establish a retailer’s current price, stock, or availability.

Which other Xbox games are coming to PS5?
Xbox has announced specific PlayStation releases, while also identifying games as Xbox console exclusives. Those statements are compatible: a release decision for one game does not establish a platform policy for every franchise.

Microsoft’s December 2022 ZeniMax fact sheet said Starfield was planned for Xbox and PC and would only release on those platforms. That was the company’s position at the time; it predates Bethesda’s 2026 PS5 announcement and release.

In February 2024, after Microsoft announced four games for rival consoles, the Associated Press reported that the move did not include Starfield or Indiana Jones. That report described the announced plans at that point in time, before Starfield’s PS5 version was announced. It should not be read as a current platform listing. How to judge future Xbox-to-PlayStation announcements
- Look for a named game and an explicit platform listing. Microsoft’s ownership of a studio or series alone does not confirm a PS5 release.
- Separate released games from planned releases. Starfield is out on PS5; Fable and Forza Horizon 6 were announced for PS5 in the cited Xbox updates, with Forza Horizon 6 described as a later 2026 release.
- Read “console exclusive” narrowly. Xbox used that label for Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution. It describes console availability, not necessarily whether a game is also available on PC.
- Check the date of any exclusivity claim. A past statement can accurately describe plans then without establishing what is available now.
