Slay the Spire 2 ranked No. 1 among games played on Steam Deck during September 2026, according to Steam Deck HQ’s monthly list. Stardew Valley placed second and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth third. The list covers September 1–30; Valve’s public chart during the same search window used a rolling September 2–October 1 period, so the two date ranges are not identical.

What the ranking measures—and what it does not
This is a relative play-activity chart drawn from Valve’s public Steam Deck chart, as reported by Steam Deck HQ. It is not a sales ranking, review score, estimate of total players, or performance benchmark. Valve’s chart showed Slay the Spire 2 at No. 1 during its September 2–October 1 rolling window; that overlaps, but does not exactly match, Steam Deck HQ’s September 1–30 list.
The sources do not provide play-hour totals, percentage shares, or a named statistical sample size. The ranking establishes order, not how large the gap was between games.

Why this top 20 spans very different kinds of play
The chart brings together games with distinct genres and session patterns. That makes rank a useful snapshot of activity, but not a direct measure of which game is best for any particular player.
| Games in the list | Broad genre or play style | What to consider when choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Slay the Spire 2, Balatro | Deckbuilding roguelikes | Build variety and repeat runs; a natural fit if you enjoy making decisions turn by turn. |
| Stardew Valley, Fields of Mistria | Life and farming simulations | Long-running routines and flexible stopping points; consider whether you want a relaxed, ongoing world. |
| Valheim, Palworld, No Man’s Sky | Survival, crafting, and exploration | Progress often comes from extended projects and exploration, rather than a single short run. |
| Baldur’s Gate 3, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, Elden Ring, Diablo 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2 | Large RPGs and action RPGs | These offer substantial worlds and progression; check each game’s current Steam Deck compatibility details and control preferences before starting. |
| Vampire Survivors, Brotato, Hades 2, Megabonk, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth | Action roguelikes and repeatable runs | Often suited to shorter attempts and replay, though session length depends on the game and the player. |
| Graveyard Keeper 2 | Not specified in the chart | The ranking alone does not establish genre, session style, or compatibility details. |
What stands out in September’s chart
- Slay the Spire 2 led the list, with Stardew Valley and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth directly behind it.
- Valheim appeared at No. 5, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered ranked No. 8.
- The lineup includes both enduring catalog games and newer or recently updated releases. The chart reports activity for one month; it does not explain what caused any game’s position.
Price and Steam Deck compatibility
Valve’s chart displayed a listed Steam price of $24.99 for Slay the Spire 2 during the captured window in 2026. That figure may vary by region and date, so check the current Steam store listing for the price where you live. The ranking itself does not establish a compatibility rating or performance result; consult each game’s current Steam Deck store information for those details.
