Yes: you can get the Epic Games Store launcher through the Microsoft Store on Windows. But this is not a new 2026 launch—Microsoft announced the listing on October 4, 2021, and Epic still confirms the Microsoft Store app is safe to download. The listing is for Epic’s PC launcher, not its full game catalog, and it does not mean Epic Games Store is available on Xbox consoles.
What “available in the Microsoft Store” means
Microsoft’s October 4, 2021 announcement said Windows 11 users could find third-party storefronts, including Epic Games Store, in the redesigned Microsoft Store. Microsoft’s current Windows gaming guide continues to describe Epic as a third-party PC storefront. Epic’s support page also confirms that its app is available in Microsoft Store and safe to download.
What you install is the Epic Games Store launcher. You use Epic’s app and account to browse, claim or buy games, then download and launch them. The listing does not make Epic titles Microsoft Store purchases, merge Epic and Microsoft accounts, or transfer your Epic library into another store.
Here, “Microsoft Store” means the app marketplace on a Windows PC. It is separate from the Xbox Store on consoles and the Xbox PC app on Windows. Microsoft’s Windows guidance discusses Epic as a PC storefront; it does not establish that Epic Games Store is available as a native Xbox console store.

How to install Epic Games Store on a Windows PC
- Open the Microsoft Store app in Windows.
- Search for Epic Games Store and select the official app.
- Choose Get, Install, or the equivalent button shown in your Store. The label can vary with the Store interface and account state.
- Open the launcher once installation finishes, then sign in to your Epic Games account or create one.
Epic says its launcher is free to install, works across devices when you sign in with your Epic account, and updates automatically when launched. Games, add-ons and in-game purchases may still cost money. Epic recommends enabling two-factor authentication and checking whether you already have an account before creating another. If the listing is missing, restart or update Microsoft Store, search the full name, and confirm you are using a Windows PC rather than an Xbox console. If it remains unavailable, use Epic’s official download page; avoid third-party download mirrors. Region, device policy and Store state are possible explanations, not guaranteed causes in every case.

Launcher requirements are not game requirements
Epic lists the launcher for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11, with a minimum of 2GB RAM and about 1.5GB of storage. Those figures are for the launcher, not for games installed through it. Individual games can require substantially different processors, graphics hardware, memory, storage, operating-system versions or account features; check each game’s requirements separately. Epic says PC and Mac availability is worldwide except where restricted by applicable law. Its download page lists macOS 10.13 or later as well, but the Microsoft Store route discussed here is for Windows.
Microsoft’s original listing announcement focused on Windows 11. Epic’s current launcher requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, though Store visibility and installation behavior on a particular Windows 10 device can depend on its Store version, region, updates and management policies.

What the listing does—and does not—do for your games
- It gives you another way to install Epic’s launcher. You still use Epic’s storefront and account for Epic purchases and downloads.
- It does not convert Epic purchases into Microsoft Store licenses. Microsoft and Epic storefront ownership remain separate.
- It does not automatically move your library. Installing the launcher through Microsoft Store does not migrate an existing Epic library.
- It does not guarantee shared saves, achievements, DLC or multiplayer entitlements. Those features vary by game and platform; consult the specific game’s documentation.
- It is not Xbox console availability. Microsoft describes Epic as a Windows PC storefront, not a native Xbox console store.
Microsoft says the Xbox PC app can access installed games from other PC storefronts, but that is not a transfer of ownership or a merger of store accounts. Availability and behavior can differ by game.

Epic explicitly says its Epic Games Store app in Microsoft Store is safe to download. That is a reason to use the official listing rather than an imitation or an unofficial download site. It is not a blanket guarantee about every game, mod, external link or account interaction you may encounter after installing the launcher.
