Kith’s limited-edition Backbone Pro launched on December 5, 2025, as part of Kithmas 2025. The original “lands in 3 days” countdown referred to that release date; as of August 18, 2026, it is a past launch, not an upcoming drop. The collaboration put Kith styling and packaging on Backbone’s Pro controller platform, rather than introducing a different performance tier. Backbone said it would be sold exclusively through Kith stores and Kith.com, but current stock and resale prices are not confirmed.
What was the Kith for Backbone Pro?
The Kith for Backbone Pro was a limited-edition collaboration for Kithmas 2025. Backbone announced it on December 2, 2025, and contemporary coverage gave December 5 as the launch date. The three-day countdown made sense when published, but is now historical. TechRadar’s launch coverage reported the date.
Backbone described the release as extremely limited and said it would be exclusive to Kith retail stores and Kith.com. That establishes the original sales channels, not present-day availability. Kith’s 2025 collection is now an archive, and the current resale stock and prices for the controller are not established.
How the Kith edition differs from the standard Pro
Design and packaging
The controller’s frost-clear, translucent shell reveals its internal circuitry. Kith monogram details appear on the tunnels and rear bridge, and the collaboration came in premium, minimalist Kithmas-themed packaging. Backbone’s founder announcement presented the partnership as a meeting of gaming and lifestyle culture; its Kith edition page describes the monogram and packaging.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That visual treatment is the main reason to seek out the limited version. The available product information does not establish different performance, exclusive software, or a new controller platform. It is best understood as a Kith-styled version of Backbone Pro, not a faster or more capable gaming device.
Core Backbone Pro features
Backbone’s standard Pro product page lists full-sized ALPS joysticks, rear buttons, USB-C wired play, Bluetooth Low Energy wireless play, and up to 40 hours of battery life in wireless mode. It also describes FlowState cross-device functionality and button remapping through the Backbone app. These are standard Pro platform specifications, not evidence of Kith-specific upgrades. See Backbone’s Pro product page.

Backbone’s pages use different component language: the product page identifies ALPS joysticks, while other copy highlights Hall effect triggers. That does not establish Hall effect thumbsticks, so buyers who require them should not assume this controller has them.
Phones, games, and practical compatibility
Phone connection and fit
The Kith edition page specifically called out compatibility with iPhone 15 and newer. The current standard Pro is designed for USB-C iPhones and Android devices; confirm the live compatibility list before buying because supported devices and operating-system requirements can change. Backbone’s pages are not consistent about the minimum iOS version, making its current support documentation the safer reference.

Lightning iPhones, including iPhone 14 and earlier, cannot use the controller’s physical USB-C connection. Backbone says older Lightning phones may connect over Bluetooth, but some app functions are unavailable in that mode. Its compatibility support article covers these limitations. Thick, rugged, wallet, and battery cases can also interfere with fit; the standard Pro includes adapters, but case compatibility remains model-specific.
What you can play
Backbone Pro supplies physical controls; it is not a console, game library, or cloud-gaming subscription. Depending on the device, region, app, and account, it can be used with controller-supported mobile games, Apple Arcade and Netflix Games titles that support controllers, Xbox cloud gaming, PlayStation Remote Play, compatible Steam or PC setups, and other services.

Backbone says basic controller use does not require Backbone+. Its free app supports functions such as firmware updates, joystick calibration, and button remapping. Backbone+ adds app features including game-library management, recommendations, and perks. Opening the app may start a free trial, so review its terms and cancel before renewal if you do not want a paid membership. See Backbone’s Pro information page.

The original retail price of the Kith edition is not verified in the available official product information, so the standard Pro’s price should not be substituted for it. Backbone’s U.S. product page lists the standard Backbone Pro at $169.99, but the page also displays “Sale Sold out”; price and stock may vary by region and over time.

The Kithmas 2025 collection page is archived, and its current display indicates that at least some collection items are sold out. It does not confirm whether the Kith controller itself can be bought new today. Check Kith’s official collection page for any current listing, and treat resale pricing as unverified unless you check a live seller and the item’s authenticity. Limited-edition status alone does not prove that a resale premium is justified.
Is the Kith edition worth pursuing?
For collectors and gift buyers
It may appeal to Kith collectors, fans of translucent electronics, and buyers who value the monogram and Kithmas packaging as much as the controller. The appeal is aesthetic and collectible: the available information does not show that the Kith treatment improves gaming performance. If buying second-hand, weigh the asking price against the standard Pro and consider that authenticity, replacement, and warranty handling may require more care than with a regular retail model.
For players choosing a controller
If the goal is simply to play mobile games with physical controls, compare the standard Backbone Pro or other controllers on grip, portability, compatibility, and price—not on the Kith branding. Pro’s larger shape may feel more comfortable for longer sessions than a compact mobile-first controller, but it is less pocketable. A Bluetooth gamepad can make more sense for tablet, PC, or TV play if you do not need a telescoping phone mount.
Relevant alternatives include the smaller Backbone One for a more portable, mobile-first setup; GameSir G8-series controllers for buyers focused on grip and value; and the Razer Kishi Ultra for a larger, console-like mobile-controller format. Current prices and stock for these alternatives are not stated here; compare live listings before choosing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhy the collaboration stood out
The Kith edition paired a streetwear label’s monogram and presentation with a gaming accessory, while its clear shell foregrounded the electronics rather than hiding them. Backbone’s founder framed the partnership as part of a broader effort to place gaming alongside fashion, music, sport, and film. That is the company’s positioning, not proof of a measured industry-wide shift. For a buyer, the practical distinction remains straightforward: the Kith edition offered a distinctive collectible finish on the Pro platform, not a new category of gaming hardware.
