Sony announced a State of Play on February 11, 2025, and said the presentation would run for more than 40 minutes. It aired the next day, focusing on games coming to PS5 from studios around the world. Housemarque’s Saros was the biggest new PlayStation Studios reveal; the broadcast also brought release dates, updates and trailers for a broad mix of third-party and independent games.
When the February 2025 State of Play aired
The presentation aired Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET. It was 11 p.m. CET that day and 7 a.m. JST on February 13. Sony announced it with roughly a day’s notice and described it as a “40+ minute” broadcast—not an exact 40-minute show.

Sony streamed the event on the official PlayStation YouTube channel and Twitch, in English and Japanese. The official recap also collects the trailers and announcements.
What Sony said before the broadcast
Sony promised news and updates on games coming to PS5, describing the lineup as a creative and unique selection from studios around the world. It did not publish a complete advance lineup or promise a first-party-only showcase. That distinction matters: the eventual program included PlayStation Studios news alongside third-party and indie games, and a PS5 focus did not mean every title was exclusive to PlayStation.

Sony also warned co-streamers and video creators that the broadcast could include copyrighted material, including licensed music it did not control. Licensing restrictions could affect live co-streams and saved video-on-demand archives; creators making recaps were advised to leave out copyrighted music where necessary.
The biggest announcements
Saros
Housemarque revealed Saros, an action game set on the off-world colony of Carcosa and starring Arjun Devraj. Sony announced it for PS5 in 2026 and said a longer gameplay presentation would follow later. The reveal made Saros the clearest new PlayStation Studios announcement of the broadcast. Sony described it as evolving gameplay ideas introduced in Returnal; it did not announce it as a direct sequel.

Days Gone Remastered
Sony announced the PS5 remaster for April 25, 2025. The listed additions included visual improvements, Tempest 3D Audio, DualSense features, Horde Assault and Permadeath mode. Sony also said eligible owners of the PS4 or PC version could upgrade for $10 at the time of the announcement; that historical offer is not current purchasing guidance.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Konami set the PS5 release date for August 28, 2025, and showed footage featuring the Cobra Unit. The trailer also revealed that the remake would bring back the Snake vs. Monkey minigame mode.

Borderlands 4
Gearbox confirmed a September 23, 2025 PS5 launch. Sony said a fuller gameplay reveal was planned for a later State of Play in spring.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Capcom highlighted Monster Hunter Wilds ahead of its February 28, 2025 launch and announced a spring post-launch title update featuring Mizutsune.

Tides of Annihilation

PlayStation Plus announcements
Sony also outlined catalog additions on the 2025 schedule. The February lineup was set to become playable on February 18, 2025, and included Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, TopSpin 2K25 and the first episode, or “Tape 1,” of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. Sony also announced Blue Prince and Abiotic Factor for later in 2025, plus the first three Armored Core games for PlayStation Plus Premium. These were announcements about that schedule, not a guide to what is in the catalog now.
How this event differs from the February 2026 State of Play
The “40-minute” headline refers to the presentation Sony announced on February 11, 2025, for the following day. Sony’s wording was more than 40 minutes. It is separate from the later February 12, 2026 State of Play, which was described as running for more than 60 minutes; the official State of Play archive distinguishes the broadcasts.
