FINAL FANTASY XVI arrived on PC and GeForce NOW on September 17; Frostpunk 2 became available on September 20. The other five additions included The Plucky Squire, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, a Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven demo, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak and REKA. NVIDIA’s announcement gives the dates and listed storefronts.
Why were Frostpunk 2 and FINAL FANTASY XVI the headline additions?
FINAL FANTASY XVI: streamable from its PC launch
FINAL FANTASY XVI launched on PC on September 17, 2024, and NVIDIA said it was available on GeForce NOW at launch. NVIDIA listed Steam and the Epic Games Store as supported storefronts for the game. That matters if you already own a copy: select the matching storefront in GeForce NOW rather than assuming every edition or platform entitlement will work.
NVIDIA said Ultimate members could stream the game at up to 4K. That is a stated service capability, not a guarantee of 4K output in every situation; the membership, device, display, connection and title support all affect the result.
Frostpunk 2: available on its release date
Frostpunk 2 became available on GeForce NOW on Friday, September 20, 2024, its PC release date. NVIDIA listed Steam, Xbox and PC Game Pass support. Players who preordered the Deluxe Edition on Steam or Xbox could use Advanced Access before the standard release; that access was edition-dependent, not included with every purchase.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For Xbox-related access, distinguish a supported PC entitlement from owning the console version. NVIDIA’s listing referred to Xbox and PC Game Pass support, but console ownership alone should not be treated as proof that the PC version is available to stream. Check that the specific edition or PC Game Pass entitlement appears in GeForce NOW and link the relevant account.

What you need to stream one of these games
GeForce NOW streams games you are entitled to play; it is not an all-you-can-play game subscription that automatically grants access to every listed title. You generally need a supported copy from a listed storefront, or an eligible PC Game Pass entitlement where NVIDIA supports it, as well as GeForce NOW access. A console copy, a different PC storefront edition or a subscription entitlement is not automatically interchangeable.
- Confirm which storefront or subscription edition you own. For FINAL FANTASY XVI, NVIDIA listed Steam and Epic Games Store; for Frostpunk 2, it listed Steam, Xbox and PC Game Pass.
- Open GeForce NOW and search for the exact game. Choose the matching storefront option shown in the app.
- Link or sign in to the associated store or Microsoft account when prompted, then confirm that the game entitlement is recognized.
- If the title or edition does not appear, verify the selected storefront and account before buying anything. Catalog availability and supported editions can change.
For PC Game Pass, the relevant access is the supported PC entitlement. A Game Pass game’s presence in the service is title-specific; having a Game Pass subscription does not make every catalog game streamable through GeForce NOW.

Does it require a paid GeForce NOW membership?
NVIDIA’s 2024 announcement said members could stream Frostpunk 2 and highlighted that Priority and Ultimate members had longer sessions than free users. It also promoted Ultimate for the game’s up-to-4K streaming capability. The post does not establish current plan names, prices, queues or session limits, so check NVIDIA’s live GeForce NOW service page for what is available now rather than relying on 2024 plan details.
A free option, where offered, may be less convenient for long play sessions if queues or session limits apply. A paid tier may suit regular play better; the highest-end tier is most relevant if you have a compatible display and connection and want the service’s top streaming features. Neither a paid membership nor the highest advertised resolution removes the need for a supported game entitlement or a good connection.

What can affect the streaming experience?
- Network stability: Congested Wi-Fi or an unstable connection can lead to image-quality drops, input delay or disconnections. Ethernet, or a strong 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi connection, can help.
- Latency and bandwidth: Low latency is important for responsive controls, while a stable connection helps maintain image quality. A headline resolution is not a promise that every network, device or title will sustain it.
- Session length: Longer management sessions in Frostpunk 2 may be a poor fit for a service tier with short sessions or queues.
- Local hardware versus streaming: Cloud gaming can be useful when a PC cannot run a game comfortably or when you want to play on another supported device. A capable local PC avoids streaming queues, network dependence and added streaming latency.
Common reasons a game will not launch
- The wrong store is selected: A Steam entitlement will not necessarily match an Epic Games Store option. Choose the storefront that owns your copy.
- Game Pass access is not recognized: Confirm the Microsoft account is linked and that you have the supported PC entitlement for that specific title.
- You have a console copy, not the supported PC version: Xbox console ownership is not by itself confirmation of a GeForce NOW-compatible PC entitlement.
- You expected the full Romancing SaGa 2 game: NVIDIA’s weekly entry was specifically the demo release.
- Advanced Access is unavailable: The early access described for Frostpunk 2 was tied to a Deluxe Edition preorder on Steam or Xbox.
- Performance is poor despite launch-day support: Availability does not guarantee a particular frame rate, resolution or response time; membership, data center, device, network and settings matter.
