On May 7, 2024, Razer announced Cortex: Add-Ons, an in-app marketplace for third-party gaming services, with five launch partners: Buff.game, Voicemod, Powder, Epal and Forge/Forged. It was designed to help players discover tools for rewards, voice effects, gameplay clips and social play inside Razer Cortex. Razer’s current public materials do not clearly confirm whether that original marketplace remains available in the latest Windows client.
What Razer Cortex: Add-Ons was
Razer presented Add-Ons as a marketplace inside the PC version of Cortex—not a hardware bundle or a Razer peripheral feature. The idea was to let players find third-party applications and services from the same utility they might use to launch or optimize games. Razer framed the offering around personalization, convenience, community, performance and content creation. Razer’s May 7, 2024 announcement described the feature as available directly in Cortex at launch.
The move mattered because it positioned Cortex as more than a Razer-controlled utility: it could also serve as a distribution and discovery layer for external gaming services. That could make Cortex more useful between game launches and give partner developers a route to visibility. Those are strategic implications of the marketplace design, not evidence that every integration attracted users or became a lasting product.
The five launch partners and what they offered
| Partner | Launch offering | Who might find it useful | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buff.game | Rewards for playing supported games, described as having real-life value. | Players interested in rewards or loyalty programs. | Eligibility, supported titles, redemption terms and the service’s own conditions. Rewards are not guaranteed cash or universal benefits. |
| Voicemod | Real-time voice changing and custom sound effects for games and communications. | Multiplayer players, streamers and voice-chat users. | Microphone permissions, audio routing, latency and compatibility with the particular game and chat setup. This is a third-party voice-effects service, not a Razer audio driver. |
| Powder | AI-assisted gameplay clipping and sharing. | Players and streamers who want help finding or sharing highlights. | Game and recording-workflow support, recording permissions, storage use and whether it duplicates an existing capture tool. The launch description does not establish compatibility with every game. |
| Epal | A social hub for finding teammates, friends or gaming companions. | Players looking for social discovery beyond a game’s built-in tools. | Moderation, identity and privacy practices, plus any account or payment requirements. |
| Forge/Forged | Play-linked rewards and unlockable content, including cosmetics, virtual currency, items or characters, and early-access opportunities in partner games. | Players whose games participate and who value game-specific rewards. | Supported games, account linking and reward conditions. Razer spells the name “Forged.gg,” while GamesBeat and a partner post use “Forge.gg”; the naming discrepancy is not resolved by those launch materials. |
Razer’s announcement and GamesBeat’s launch coverage describe the partner lineup. Their descriptions establish what the services were presented as doing at launch, not their current availability, pricing, regional reach or compatibility with every game.

What players and developers stood to gain
For players
- Discover tools from within Cortex rather than searching for every service separately.
- Find services for voice chat, social play, clips and rewards alongside a game launcher and utility.
- Keep a more unified gaming workflow, while still using services that remain separately operated.
For startups and developers
Razer said the program offered participating developers access to Cortex users, in-app visibility and promotion, integration, and revenue sharing. It also directed developers to apply through Add-ons.Razer.com. The announcement did not disclose revenue-share percentages, minimum guarantees or consumer pricing rules. Razer’s partner-program description is the basis for those terms.
GamesBeat reported a launch-era figure of six million monthly active Cortex users. That is a figure reported in 2024 launch coverage, not a current audience count. A separate partner post refers to a 50 million user base, but does not establish a comparable metric, date, geography or product scope; the two numbers should not be treated as interchangeable. GamesBeat and the partner post provide those differently framed claims.

How to install Cortex—and what that does not guarantee
Razer’s current support instructions say Cortex supports Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11. The documented installation flow is:
- Go to the Razer Cortex page and select Download Now.
- Run the installer, select Razer Cortex, then click Install.
- Select Launch Razer Cortex, choose Get Started, and sign in with a Razer ID.
Razer’s installation guide and product page establish the supported Windows editions and setup path. Installing Cortex does not establish that Add-Ons, its original catalog or any particular partner integration will appear in a current installation. A partner service may also require its own account or have separate terms.

Is the Add-Ons marketplace still available?
Razer’s current Cortex product page emphasizes Game Booster, System Booster, Deals, Rewards, Game Clips, Game Launcher, Handheld Mode and Remote Play. Its current public materials do not clearly document Add-Ons as a prominently marketed feature. Razer’s support page identifies Cortex 10 and lists version 2.0.0.598, but that page does not establish that the 2024 marketplace is active in every current client. The version is the number shown on that support page, not a guarantee of the version installed by every user or in every region. Razer Cortex and its Cortex 10 support and FAQs provide the current public context.
Razer launched Add-Ons in May 2024, but the current public Cortex materials reviewed do not clearly confirm whether the original marketplace and all five launch integrations remain available in the latest Windows client. Do not assume that the original catalog is still live—or that it has been discontinued—without checking the installed client or the relevant partner’s current service.

What to weigh before using a third-party Add-On
- Value and compatibility: Check whether the service adds something your game or existing desktop tools do not, and whether it supports your games and launchers.
- Privacy and permissions: Review what gameplay, account, microphone or social information it accesses. Avoid linking accounts or granting permissions that are not needed.
- Performance and conflicts: Voice tools, recorders and overlays may use CPU, GPU, memory, bandwidth or storage, and can conflict with other capture software, audio routing or anti-cheat systems. Verify compatibility rather than assuming every Add-On behaves alike.
- Monetization and rewards: Look for subscriptions, paid upgrades, advertising, eligibility limits and redemption rules. Rewards can encourage more play and may be limited to particular games or users.
- Support and portability: A listing in Cortex does not mean Razer owns or fully supports the underlying service. Razer’s role was distribution, placement and integration; the partner operates its service, accounts, features and support. Check whether you can use the service outside Cortex and revoke account access if you stop using it.
- Social safety: For voice and companion-finding services, consider moderation, harassment, impersonation and identity exposure before joining or sharing personal details.
There is no single replacement for Add-Ons because its partners served different purposes. Players can compare capture utilities such as native GPU recording, OBS Studio or Xbox Game Bar; voice-effect applications; game launchers such as Steam or GOG Galaxy; in-game matchmaking and Discord communities; and game- or platform-specific rewards programs. These are functional alternatives, not a claim that any one is better. Cortex Add-Ons was a discovery and distribution layer, not necessarily a replacement for the services underneath it.

Common setup problems to check
- The Add-Ons tab is missing: Current public documentation does not confirm it is present in every build. Update Cortex and check Razer’s current product and support pages; do not infer that the marketplace is active because Cortex itself installs.
- A partner cannot connect: Confirm the partner service is available in your region, that its own service is running, and that any separate account connection succeeded.
- A game or reward is not detected: Razer’s Cortex support documentation says game tracking can depend on using the official game version, launcher arrangement, Cortex running before the game starts, and correct library detection. Those requirements do not prove every Add-On has identical rules. See the Cortex 10 support and FAQs.
- Capture or voice does not work: Check for another recorder or overlay competing for capture, then verify Windows audio input and output routing and the partner’s compatibility guidance.
- You are offline: Razer says an internet connection is needed to log in, after which most Cortex features can work offline. That statement may not apply to cloud-dependent third-party services. See Razer’s internet-connection FAQ.
- You need help: Cortex support may not cover a partner’s account, billing, moderation or service behavior. Contact the service provider for those issues and review its own support and privacy terms.
