As of August 2026, NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition is the newer Apple Arcade entry, so NBA 2K25 is best understood as a past release for players who want that specific edition.
When did NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition launch?
Apple announced the game on September 5, 2024, as part of that fall’s Apple Arcade additions. 2K confirmed it was available on October 3, 2024. Visual Concepts developed the game, published under 2K, and Jayson Tatum was the cover athlete. Apple’s announcement and 2K’s launch notice document the release.

The U.S. App Store listing identifies the product as NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition. Apple’s current Arcade page promotes NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition, which launched October 16, 2025; the 2025 launch announcement confirms that date.
What does the Arcade Edition include?
2K’s launch materials focused on MyCAREER and a new Neighborhood, a hub with indoor MyCOURT and outdoor streetball courts, shops and nearby areas. Quests were intended to guide players through the features, controls, progression and rewards. The announcement also described a revamped Greatest mode and Game Center-based play with friends.

Which devices were listed as supported?
At launch, 2K listed iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro. That is a statement about NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition’s 2024 release; it should not be assumed to describe later entries in the series. Apple’s general Apple Arcade page notes that compatibility varies by game and device. Check the game’s App Store page on the device and in the region where you plan to play, since hardware and software requirements can affect availability.

How do you get access, and what does it cost?
NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition is distributed through Apple Arcade rather than as a separately priced, one-time App Store game. Access is included with an Apple Arcade subscription or eligible trial; it is not simply free, and subscribing does not mean owning the game outright. Apple describes its Arcade catalog as free of ads and in-app purchases, and says games can be played online or offline, though that does not mean every online feature in this title works offline.
Apple’s current U.S. Arcade page, checked August 18, 2026, lists $6.99 per month or $49.99 per year, with Family Sharing for up to five additional family members. The monthly price was also the U.S. launch price in September 2024; the annual price is a current price, not a launch offer. The current service page describes a one-month trial. Eligibility for a trial or a new-device offer can vary; Apple’s promotional terms set restrictions on the three-month offer for qualifying new-device purchasers.

For an existing subscriber, no separate game purchase should be needed: find it in the Arcade tab or App Store, then install it on a compatible device. Online features may require an online account, and age requirements depend on the feature and jurisdiction, according to 2K’s launch notice. Apple Arcade is also included in Apple One, but the bundle prices quoted in the 2024 NBA 2K25 announcement are historical, not a reliable guide to current bundle pricing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How is it different from console and PC NBA 2K25?
“Arcade Edition” is a distinct Apple-platform release, not a renamed console or PC copy. It is accessed through Apple Arcade, and a purchase of NBA 2K25 on PlayStation, Xbox, PC or Nintendo Switch does not, on the evidence available, unlock this version. The Arcade launch materials describe selected modes and features; they do not establish feature parity with the console or PC editions. Modes, presentation, updates, performance and online population may differ, and the announced Game Center play is not evidence of cross-play with console, PC or Android players.

That makes the edition a more natural fit for someone already in Apple’s ecosystem who wants MyCAREER and Neighborhood play on a supported device. It is a poorer match for anyone expecting the full console/PC feature set or choosing a game primarily for a large competitive matchmaking pool.
Is NBA 2K25 Arcade Edition worth trying in 2026?
It can make sense if you already subscribe to Apple Arcade, want this particular 2024 edition, and are happy playing on a compatible Apple device. Apple Arcade’s broader catalog may also matter to the value decision: subscribing only for NBA 2K25 is less compelling if you do not want the other games, especially now that a newer NBA 2K Arcade Edition exists.
For someone starting fresh and looking for the current Apple Arcade NBA 2K, check NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition first. Its App Store listing and Apple’s current Arcade page identify it as the successor. Do not infer that the newer game supports Apple Vision Pro simply because 2K listed that device for NBA 2K25; the NBA 2K26 App Store metadata lists iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
Before subscribing, confirm that the specific game appears in the App Store on your device and in your region. The available listing is a better guide to local compatibility than a universal download-size or performance claim, neither of which is established here.
