It is not a current BGMI release: as of August 18, 2026, Google Play lists version 4.5.0, dated July 16, 2026. For normal play, install BGMI through Google Play or start from the official BGMI website. An archived 2.8.0 APK is not an official current download, and there is no verified official 2.8.0 OBB bundle to recommend.
What was included in BGMI 2.8.0?
KRAFTON published the 2.8.0 update on October 10, 2023. Its headline feature was Zombie’s Edge, a themed mode that brought zombie hordes to the battlefield and elite monsters to a destroyed laboratory. Defeating enemies could earn players power-ups, and the mode introduced skills and weapons. The update also advertised Royal Pass A2, Cycle 4 Season 13 and a new 1×1 Nusa map. These were features of that update era, not a promise that the same content is playable in the current game. KRAFTON’s 2.8.0 patch notes describe the update.
Zombie’s Edge was a themed, time-limited mode, not a separate game. Current official listings do not establish that it remains available in the live 2026 client, so an old installer should not be treated as a way to restore it.
Can you download BGMI 2.8.0 officially today?
There is no reason to treat 2.8.0 as an official current download. Google Play’s BGMI listing shows a much newer release, while the official BGMI site provides the publisher’s current route. A third-party archive may preserve historical APK files, but it is not KRAFTON’s current distribution channel and does not guarantee that an old build will run or connect to live services.

An archived client may be rejected because the game expects a newer version; its assets, login flow, matchmaking or anti-cheat checks may no longer align with the live service. Those are practical risks, not a guarantee that every archived installation will fail. Installing an APK successfully does not mean the game will work.
How to install the current official BGMI release
- Open BGMI’s Google Play listing or reach the download route from the official BGMI website.
- On Google Play, confirm the app is BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA and the developer is KRAFTON, Inc.
- Install or update the app, then launch it on a stable connection and allow its official in-game resource downloads to finish.
- Sign in using a supported account method. Do not install an old 2.8.0 package over the current client for ordinary gameplay.
If Google Play is unavailable on your device, begin with BGMI’s official site and support channels rather than a random APK mirror. BGMI is an India-specific service; sideloading does not remove regional eligibility restrictions.

What historical BGMI 2.8.0 APK variants are listed?
A third-party archive lists two APK variants for package com.pubg.imobile. The figures below are archive metadata from the 2.8.0 release, not KRAFTON’s current device-support guarantees.

The archive also reports target API 33 for these builds. That metadata does not show that either variant remains supported on current Android versions or will connect to BGMI’s live service. The archive’s armeabi-v7a listing and arm64-v8a listing identify the respective variants.

How to read the architecture labels
- armeabi-v7a is for 32-bit ARM devices.
- arm64-v8a is for 64-bit ARM devices. Do not choose based on age or appearance of a phone; verify its supported ABI with the device manufacturer or system information.
- A mismatched architecture can cause installation errors or crashes. Modern devices are commonly arm64, but that is not a substitute for checking your own device.
APK, OBB, XAPK and split APKs are not interchangeable
- APK: an Android application package. Depending on the release, it may not contain all game assets.
- OBB: a separate expansion-data file used by some Android games. Its use depends on how that version was packaged.
- XAPK: a third-party container that can bundle an APK with OBB data or other files. It is not a standard APK that Android installs by tapping it.
- APKS or split APKs: a collection of APK components commonly installed with a compatible package installer.
For BGMI 2.8.0, the archive evidence documents APK variants, while another third-party listing labels the release as XAPK/OBB. That inconsistency is a reason to check exactly what a download contains, not evidence that a publisher-provided OBB exists. No verified official standalone 2.8.0 OBB package is established here.
What to consider before handling an archived 2.8.0 build
Archival testing is different from installing a supported game. If you have a legitimate reason to examine an old build, treat it as untrusted until verified and do not use it for routine play.

- Use a reputable archive that identifies the original developer, package name and exact variant. An archive’s attribution, signature or hash information is its own published data, not an independent safety guarantee.
- Compare the file’s published hash and signing information where available, and scan it with a trusted security tool. Keep the device offline until inspection is complete.
- Prefer a spare device or permitted test environment; avoid entering a primary account into an unverified client.
- Do not disable Play Protect or other security protections to force installation. Reject packages that demand unrelated permissions, redirect to unrelated sites, or require cheats, scripts or “anti-ban” tools.
- Keep in mind that BGMI is intended for players in India; a sideloaded file does not bypass regional restrictions.
KRAFTON’s rules of conduct prohibit illegal programs and provide for penalties, including restrictions or permanent bans. Avoid modified clients, injectors, cheat configurations and anti-ban tools; an old official build and a modified client are not the same thing.

KRAFTON’s Android help page lists a baseline of Android 4.4 or higher, Adreno 306 or higher, and at least 1.5 GB RAM. The page was last updated 851 days before the August 2026 research date, so it should not be read as a definitive 2026 performance recommendation. The historical archive’s Android 4.3+ and 5.0+ labels refer to the two old APK variants’ stated compatibility, not current live-service requirements. Neither source establishes a current total storage requirement after BGMI downloads in-game resources. KRAFTON’s Android requirements page provides its published baseline.

Troubleshooting common APK and installation problems
“App not installed” or a parsing error
Check that the package is the correct architecture and that the file is complete. Android may also refuse an installation when its signature conflicts with an existing app. For normal gameplay, stop troubleshooting an obsolete installer and install the current official release. Do not uninstall a working client unless you know your account is linked and synchronized and can access its supported login method.
“OBB missing” or an in-game download failure
Delete a questionable package rather than sourcing replacement data from a cheat forum or link-shortener page. Install the current official version, check free storage and Wi-Fi, and allow its own resource download to complete. The available evidence does not verify an official 2.8.0 OBB bundle.
Crash, login failure or server/version message
An archived build can install yet fail at launch, login or matchmaking if the live service expects newer software or assets. Use the current official client for play; contact BGMI support through official channels if that version fails.
Google Play installation failure
Check available storage and connection, restart the device, and, if needed, clear the Google Play Store and Google Play Services cache before retrying. If the problem persists, use official BGMI support rather than an unverified APK mirror.

BGMI 2.8.0 is a historical build, not the recommended download
BGMI 2.8.0 and Zombie’s Edge belong to the October 2023 update. For supported play in 2026, use the current release from Google Play or BGMI’s official site. A third-party archive can be useful for historical reference, but it does not make an old APK or an advertised APK/OBB bundle official, safe, or compatible with current servers.
