What is WHATEVER?
WHATEVER is a single-player, isometric drifting game built around a fictional 200,000-ton cargo ship. Its premise takes inspiration from the Ever Given, the container ship that became stuck in the Suez Canal on March 23, 2021, and was freed on March 29 after blocking the route for six days. WHATEVER uses a fictional ship name rather than the real vessel’s.
This is a comedy-leaning arcade game with physics and simulation elements, not a professional maritime simulator. You try to guide a vessel with heavy momentum through tight canals, preserve its cargo and reach destinations before the company loses money. The absurdity is part of the design: Steam lists nine canals and two boss encounters, while hazards include violent winds, whirlpools, kaiju and UFOs. The official listing identifies Cuddle Code as developer and publisher and gives October 20, 2022 as the release date.

How to download WHATEVER on PC
- Open the official WHATEVER Steam page.
- Sign in to your Steam account and check the price shown for your region.
- Purchase the game, then open the Steam client.
- Choose Install from the game’s Steam page or your Library, select an installation location and launch it once installation is complete.
The Steam listing showed €8.19 in the checked storefront view on August 18, 2026. That is a regional storefront price, not a universal price or a guaranteed current offer; taxes, currency and promotions can affect what appears in your account.
Is WHATEVER free?
No free version is established by the current Steam listing. A September 2021 Tech Times article described WHATEVER as free and in Early Access at that time. Steam now lists the released game as a purchase, so treat that older free-download description as historical rather than current instructions. Use the official store page rather than unofficial mirrors.
What playing it is like
WHATEVER makes momentum the central challenge: the ship does not turn like a car, and carrying too much speed into a corner can send it off course or damage cargo. A Higher Plain Games review describes drift-based movement, boost and reverse-thruster mechanics, time and cargo-preservation objectives, and upgrades purchased with collected coins. The reviewer also notes difficulty spikes, especially in boss encounters; those are experiential observations, not official performance specifications.

Expect retries and an intentionally awkward learning curve rather than realistic ship-handling practice. The premise and physics are the draw; the same handling can frustrate players who want forgiving controls or a detailed maritime simulation.

Is Suez Canal Training Simulator the same game?
No. Suez Canal Training Simulator, associated with Mythical City Games, is a separate title with its own pages and versions. The shared Suez Canal premise does not establish that it is a rename or successor to WHATEVER.
