For a new gaming PC built around the Radeon RX 6750 XT, the Ryzen 5 7600 is the best-balanced choice from the 2024 shortlist: its six cores are sufficient for this 1440p-class graphics card, and AM5 gives you a newer platform than AM4. If you already own an AM4 motherboard, consider the Ryzen 7 5700X3D instead. Choose a Ryzen 7 7800X3D for very high refresh rates or CPU-heavy games, not simply because it tops gaming rankings.
The shortlist below reflects the 2024 context in the title. Since that advice is now historical, compare current local prices and newer AM5 options before buying; the sources available here do not establish reliable 2026 prices for every CPU.
Quick recommendations

Why the Ryzen 5 7600 is the default for a new build
The RX 6750 XT is positioned by AMD for 1440p gaming and has 12 GB of GDDR6 memory. At that resolution, demanding graphics settings commonly put more pressure on the GPU than on a modern six-core processor. That makes the Ryzen 5 7600 a sensible balance rather than an attempt to eliminate every theoretical CPU limit. AMD lists the 7600 as a 6-core, 12-thread Zen 4 CPU with boost speeds up to 5.1 GHz, a 65 W TDP and PCIe 5.0 support. AMD’s July 2024 processor guide provides its specifications; AMD’s RX 6750 XT page lists the card’s specifications and 1440p positioning.
For a new system, the 7600’s AM5 socket and DDR5 support are part of the value. A mainstream B650 motherboard is a reasonable pairing; spending more on a premium board is unnecessary unless you need its particular connectivity or expansion features. AM5 is an upgrade-path advantage, not a guarantee that every future processor will work on every board.

Compare total platform cost rather than CPU prices alone: motherboard, memory and cooler can change which option is the better buy. Historical 2024 prices are not reliable current quotes, and no exact 2026 price comparison is established here.
7600 or 7600X?
Both are six-core, 12-thread Zen 4 processors with 38 MB total cache. The 7600X boosts up to 5.3 GHz and carries a 105 W TDP, compared with up to 5.1 GHz and 65 W for the 7600. The X model is worth considering when its price is close and you already have a suitable cooler. If it costs more or requires buying a cooler, the 7600 is usually the more straightforward match for this GPU. Check the specific retail package for included cooler details.
If you already have an AM4 motherboard
The Ryzen 7 5700X3D is the standout gaming upgrade when you can keep a compatible AM4 board and DDR4 memory. It has 8 cores, 16 threads, 96 MB of L3 cache and a 105 W default TDP. AMD’s product support page identifies its specifications and AM4 socket. Its value is avoiding a motherboard and memory replacement, not being the right default CPU for a new build.
Before buying, check the exact motherboard model’s CPU support list and BIOS documentation. Update to the required BIOS while the existing CPU is still installed if the board’s procedure calls for it. Support varies: do not assume an older A320, B350 or X370 board will run the 5700X3D. Board power delivery and cooling also matter.

Use a reasonable tower cooler rather than a minimal low-profile solution. AMD announced the processor at a $249 suggested launch price on January 8, 2024; that is a historical launch figure, not a current retail price. AMD’s announcement gives the date and launch price.
Other AM4 choices
If the 5700X3D does not fit the budget, a Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 5 5600X can be a lower-cost route when you already have a compatible board. The 5600 is a 6-core, 12-thread, 65 W option with boost up to 4.4 GHz. The Ryzen 7 5700X, at 8 cores and 16 threads with a 65 W TDP, may suit productivity-focused AM4 systems; for gaming, the 5700X3D is more compelling when the price difference is reasonable. Neither is an obvious new-build choice if a complete AM5 system costs about the same.
When the Ryzen 7 7800X3D makes sense
The 7800X3D is a premium choice, not a requirement for the RX 6750 XT. It has 8 cores, 16 threads, 96 MB of L3 cache, boost speeds up to 5.0 GHz and a 120 W default TDP. AMD describes it as an AM5 gaming processor with 3D V-Cache; its product page lists specifications, supported chipsets and cooler guidance.
It is most defensible if you play CPU-heavy simulation, strategy, MMO or open-world games; target very high refresh rates, especially at 1080p; or plan to move to a substantially faster GPU. It can also make sense if its price is unusually close to other high-end choices. In visually demanding 1440p play, the graphics card often sets the limit first, so extra CPU capability may not translate into a visible gain. A good air cooler or capable liquid cooler is appropriate; AMD recommends liquid cooling for optimal performance.

Intel alternative for mixed workloads
The Core i5-13600K or 13600KF is a valid alternative if you combine gaming with rendering, compiling, video editing, compression or heavier multitasking, or already own a compatible LGA1700 motherboard. It is a Core i5, not an i9. Compare CPU, board and cooler costs together: the platform is older than AM5, and the 13600K generally calls for more deliberate cooling and power planning than the Ryzen 5 7600.
The KF variant lacks integrated graphics. That matters if you want an onboard display for troubleshooting or rely on an integrated-GPU workflow. Intel’s pages provide model details for the Core i5-13600K and Core i5-13600KF.
Choose by resolution and refresh rate
1440p at 60–100 Hz
A Ryzen 5 5600 can be adequate in a budget-focused build, while the Ryzen 5 7600 is the stronger new-build choice. If you already own AM4, price the 5700X3D as an upgrade rather than replacing the whole platform automatically. TechSpot’s 2024 buying guide described the RX 6750 XT as capable of 1440p at 60 FPS on high settings, with higher rates possible in less demanding games or at reduced settings; this is context, not a guarantee for every game. TechSpot’s guide explains its build assumptions.
1440p at 144–165 Hz
The Ryzen 5 7600 or 7600X is the normal new-build range. The 5700X3D is attractive for an AM4 owner who wants to improve CPU-limited frame rates without changing memory and motherboard. Actual results still depend on the game and graphics settings.

1080p at 240 Hz or competitive settings
At lower resolution and high frame rates, the CPU has more opportunity to limit performance. A 7800X3D or 13600K may be justified if the games you play are CPU-limited and you want higher frame rates or steadier lows. A GPU’s ability to render those frames remains part of the equation.
4K gaming
The RX 6750 XT is usually the more important constraint at 4K. Buying a costly CPU solely to remove a predicted bottleneck is difficult to justify for this pairing; put the budget toward the graphics card or other system needs instead.

New AM5 system
- Pair the Ryzen 5 7600 with a B650-class board unless a specific feature calls for a higher tier.
- Use 32 GB of DDR5; DDR5-6000 is a reasonable target, but stability depends on the kit, board, BIOS and processor memory controller.
- A competent tower air cooler is sufficient for a 7600. Check the included-cooler status of the exact retail package.
AM4 upgrade
- Verify the precise board’s CPU support list and required BIOS before ordering a 5700X3D.
- Reuse adequate DDR4 memory; 32 GB is preferable for modern gaming and multitasking.
- Use a reasonable tower cooler and consider the board’s power delivery and cooling condition.
Power supply
A quality 650 W PSU is a practical baseline for a Ryzen 5 7600 and RX 6750 XT system, not a universal guarantee. Consider a quality 750 W unit for a higher-power Intel CPU, many drives, aggressive power limits or a future high-end GPU. Check the graphics-card maker’s connector requirements and choose a PSU for its platform quality, protections and warranty as well as efficiency rating. ASUS’s partner PSU table gives RX 6750 XT recommendations that vary with CPU category and configuration, so treat it as a sizing reference rather than a rule for every build: ASUS recommended PSU table.
What “bottleneck” means for this pairing
Every PC is limited by something in a given workload; there is no fixed bottleneck percentage that describes all RX 6750 XT systems. The limiting part changes with resolution, graphics settings, game engine, frame-rate target, background tasks, memory behavior, drivers and whether you stream or record.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
At high-detail 1440p, the GPU often determines the frame rate, which compresses differences between capable CPUs. At 1080p, in CPU-heavy games or at very high refresh rates, CPU performance can matter more. A faster processor may also improve frame-time consistency or make a later GPU upgrade easier. Treat online bottleneck calculators as rough prompts, not empirical predictions for your game and settings.
For a useful check after building, watch GPU utilization and frame times during the games you actually play, and compare performance at your target resolution and settings. A low GPU utilization reading alone does not diagnose a CPU limit: frame caps, menus, engine behavior and background software can also affect it.
Final choice by platform and priority
- Starting from scratch: choose the Ryzen 5 7600 as the balanced gaming pick from this 2024 shortlist.
- Keeping AM4: choose the Ryzen 7 5700X3D if the board supports it and the upgrade cost beats a full platform change.
- Chasing high-refresh CPU-limited gaming: consider the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, with the understanding that the RX 6750 XT may limit gains in GPU-heavy games.
- Gaming plus substantial productivity: compare a Core i5-13600K/KF system against AM5 using the full cost of board, cooler and power setup.
- Building as cheaply as possible: choose a Ryzen 5 5600 only when the AM4 platform is meaningfully less expensive.
For broader CPU comparisons, AnandTech’s 2024 CPU guidance discussed the 7800X3D’s gaming strength alongside lower-cost AM4 alternatives. Treat that and other 2024 pricing or buying guidance as historical context, not a current retail quote.
