What Are Robux and How Do You Use Them?

Robux are Roblox’s virtual currency. You can use them to buy avatar items, in-experience upgrades and other digital content through Roblox. They are not ordinary money: most players cannot cash them out, and Roblox generally treats purchases as final. You can buy or redeem Robux through official Roblox channels, receive them through supported gifting, or earn qualifying Robux by creating content.

What are Robux?

Robux are the currency used within Roblox. They let players pay for eligible virtual content and services, but they are not a general-purpose payment method or a stable cash equivalent. Under Roblox’s Terms of Use, virtual content generally has no real-world equivalent value, and buying it does not give you conventional ownership rights. Roblox may change or restrict the currency and its use under its terms.

• Robux are the platform currency.
• Virtual items include avatar clothing, accessories and other Marketplace content.
• In-experience purchases are items or features sold by an individual Roblox experience, such as passes, abilities or boosts.
• Experiences are Roblox games and interactive worlds; some offer paid access or private servers.
• Subscriptions are recurring paid plans that may include a Robux stipend and other benefits. A stipend is not automatically creator-earned Robux.

What can you buy with Robux?

Avatar items

Robux can buy eligible Marketplace content such as clothing, accessories, avatar bundles and appearance items. Some items have extra availability, age, account or trading requirements, so check the listing before purchasing.

Items and features inside experiences

Depending on the experience, you may be able to buy game passes, developer products, abilities, cosmetic items, in-game currency, boosts or private-server access. Some experiences also charge for access. The creator sets what is offered, so review the item, price and description before confirming.

Limited items and trading

Trading is not a general way to transfer Robux between accounts. Certain virtual content may be tradable only when accounts meet Roblox’s current eligibility rules; some trades can include Robux, and Roblox charges a fee when they do. Treat trades as transactions within Roblox, not as a way to make guaranteed money. Avoid off-platform deals, impersonators and offers that ask you to hand over account access.

How to buy Robux safely

1. Sign in to the Roblox account that should receive the Robux.
2. Open the official Buy Robux page or the Robux purchase area in the official Roblox app.
3. Select an available package and check the account name, amount, payment method and total at checkout.
4. Complete the purchase through Roblox or the platform’s payment system, then check the account balance.

Roblox says purchases made on the web, computer and with gift cards receive up to 25% more Robux than some other purchase channels. That is a stated maximum, not a guaranteed bonus for every package or region. The amount and final price can vary with location, currency, taxes, platform, package and promotions; compare the amounts displayed at checkout rather than relying on a fixed Robux-per-dollar conversion. For regular players, buy only through Roblox or a payment channel Roblox supports. Roblox does not recognize unofficial services that sell or transfer Robux outside its approved systems. If you are buying for a child, agree on a spending limit and involve a parent or guardian.

How Roblox gift cards work

Roblox gift cards are sold through Roblox and authorized retailers. Depending on the card, redemption may add account credit or redeem directly for a stated Robux amount. The value is not identical across every card: it can depend on the denomination, currency, country, card type and current Roblox rules.

Use the official Roblox gift card page to find cards and redemption guidance. The cited terms cover U.S. cards; users elsewhere should follow the terms for their location. Roblox’s U.S. gift card terms say cards should come from Roblox or an authorized seller, and that users under 18 may need parent or guardian consent. Avoid auction listings and questionable resellers: a card from an unauthorized seller may not be honored.

Can you gift Robux directly?

Roblox documents a direct Gifting Robux feature for select eligible users in the United States. The documented flow is for the web or desktop, and Roblox states an 18+ requirement for the relevant gifting flow. Availability and eligibility may change, so check Roblox’s current requirements before trying it.

Requesting Robux

1. Open the Buy Robux page on desktop or the web and select Request Robux.
2. Share the generated link or QR code with the person who may send a gift.
3. Once the gift is received, Roblox adds the Robux to the account automatically.

Sending Robux

1. Open the recipient’s gift link in a web browser.
2. Check the displayed username and avatar carefully to confirm the recipient.
3. Select a package, add an optional message, verify a phone number at checkout and complete payment.

Roblox says gifts are final sale and cannot be rejected after receipt. The feature uses standard, non-Premium package pricing and does not include bonus Robux or a virtual bonus item.

How creators earn Robux

Creators may earn Robux by selling eligible avatar items, monetizing experiences through purchases, participating in Creator Rewards or other eligible creator programs, and offering content through Roblox’s creator tools. These are earnings from making content, not a generator or guaranteed payout. Results depend on content, audience, moderation, program rules and eligibility.

Roblox distinguishes Earned Robux from purchased or gifted currency, subscription stipends, referral bonuses and some Robux gained through trading or resale of content the user did not create. Only qualifying Earned Robux may be eligible for cash conversion through the Roblox creator portal and Developer Exchange (DevEx), and creators must meet the program’s current requirements. Merely having a Robux balance does not qualify an account to cash out. Do not rely on a fixed threshold or payout rate without checking Roblox’s live DevEx terms.

How to check your balance and transaction history

On mobile

1. Sign in to the account that owns the Robux.
2. Tap the Robux icon at the top of the app; the balance appears at the top of the screen.

On the web

1. Sign in to Roblox and look for the balance in the upper-right corner.
2. Click the Robux icon or amount to open My Transactions.

On the web, transaction categories can include Summary, Currency Purchases, Premium Stipends, Purchases, Sales of Goods, Creator Rewards and Group Payouts.

On Xbox

1. Open Roblox from the Xbox home menu and sign in.
2. Open the Robux menu and look for My Balance in the lower-left area.

Labels and placement may differ by app version, platform or account. Roblox’s balance and transaction-history guide covers these locations.

Are free Robux generators real?

No. Roblox says there is no legitimate Robux generator, free Robux code or universal trick that creates free Robux. Claims of that kind are commonly used to steal accounts, payment details or personal information. Legitimate creator earnings are different: they come from eligible content and are subject to Roblox’s program rules.

• Do not enter your Roblox password on a site reached through an offer or message. Sign in only through Roblox’s official login.
• Never share your password, authentication codes or browser cookies. Roblox staff and creators do not need them to send Robux.
• Be wary of surveys that demand personal information, fake login pages, “human verification,” secret-code videos, double-your-Robux promises and giveaways that require an upfront payment.
• Leave experiences or messages that send you off Roblox to claim a prize, and do not trade first on a promise of later payment.

Are Robux purchases refundable?

Roblox’s Terms of Use say Robux payments are final and non-refundable except where required by law. Virtual-content transfers are generally final, non-refundable and non-reversible as well. Deleting an item or deciding you no longer want it does not guarantee a refund; Roblox does not generally promise one if content is removed or suspended, except where law or a specific policy provides otherwise.

If you do not recognize a charge, check which account and payment platform were used, then contact Roblox promptly with the username, date, amount, payment method and receipt. Roblox’s unauthorized charges and refund guidance warns that disputing a charge directly with a payment processor can limit the assistance or refund Roblox can provide. Purchases processed by Apple, Microsoft, PlayStation, Meta Quest, Samsung, Amazon or another platform may need to be handled through that platform’s refund process. For other account or billing problems, use Roblox Support.

If Robux are missing

1. Confirm that you are signed into the account that made the purchase or redeemed the card.
2. Refresh the app or browser and check the balance again.
3. On the web, open My Transactions and review purchases, subscription stipends, sales, Creator Rewards and group payouts.
4. Check the purchase receipt and the billing history of the platform that processed payment; a transaction may still be pending.
5. If the balance still does not match, contact Roblox Support with the username, date, amount, payment method, receipt and relevant transaction details.
6. If the charge was unauthorized, report it promptly and follow the refund process for the platform that processed it.

Roblox can be played without buying Robux. Many experiences are free to access, and some offer free avatar items or progression earned through gameplay; what is available varies by experience and can change.
