Moxy said the change could save about $3.5 million a year in gas fees, which it intended to reinvest in its ecosystem. That figure is a company-reported projection—not verified savings—and the available sources do not establish that the token migration was completed.
What Moxy and SKALE announced
Moxy is a competitive-gaming platform focused on tournaments, rewards and gamification. SKALE Labs provides the blockchain infrastructure. In the September 5, 2024 announcement, Moxy said it planned to use SKALE’s gasless infrastructure, migrate MOXY from Ethereum to SKALE and put projected fee savings back into ecosystem development. The article page was later updated on June 18, 2025; that update date is not a second partnership announcement.
The announcement describes a plan. It does not, by itself, show that every Moxy transaction moved to SKALE, that the migration was completed, or that the projected savings were realized.
What Moxy does—and what SKALE provides
Moxy is a gaming platform, not a blockchain
Moxy’s model centers on adding competitive and esports-style features to games. Its platform white paper describes APIs and middleware intended to help publishers integrate tournaments and gamification without each game creating its own token. It presents MOXY as a common platform token. These descriptions provide background on the design; they do not confirm that every feature in the paper is currently available.

SKALE is the infrastructure layer
SKALE describes its network as EVM-compatible, with application-specific chains designed for high throughput and low latency. Its model aims to hide ordinary gas charges from end users. SKALE’s Metaport material describes token transfers between Ethereum and SKALE chains. That technical capability does not establish which SKALE chain Moxy selected or how MOXY’s migration was implemented.
Why gas fees matter in competitive games
Games may involve many small or repeated on-chain actions: entering a tournament, claiming a reward, transferring an item or withdrawing an asset. If each action requires a player to obtain a gas token and pay a fluctuating network fee, the overhead can outweigh a small reward and complicate onboarding. For a publisher, unpredictable fees can also make it harder to plan the cost of frequent transactions.
Moving those interactions to an environment that abstracts end-user gas could reduce that friction. Moxy’s estimate of about $3.5 million in annual savings was reported as a projection; the announcement does not establish the calculation’s assumptions or provide an independently audited result. Actual savings would depend on transaction volume, Ethereum fee conditions and how the new infrastructure is funded.

What “gasless” means for players—and who pays
Gasless does not mean that computation, validators or chain operations have no cost. It means a player may not have to pay an ordinary transaction fee directly when using an application. Costs can instead be handled through the chain’s operating model, subsidized by an application or covered through another arrangement.

SKALE’s sFUEL documentation describes sFUEL as a gas token that chains can distribute to developers or users, while recommending gasless transactions for many applications. The documentation makes clear that gasless operation and sFUEL distribution are parts of the technical model; it does not specify which arrangement Moxy would use.
If implemented as intended, players could avoid keeping a gas-token balance for routine game actions and face fewer wallet prompts or failed transactions. But the announcement does not identify which actions would be on-chain, whether players would control their own wallets, or whether every transaction would be gasless. Withdrawing or bridging an asset could still involve additional steps or costs.

What the MOXY migration does—and does not—establish
A token migration can mean issuing or representing a token on a new chain, replacing a contract, or providing a bridge between networks. Those approaches can have different implications for holders, exchanges and wallets. SKALE’s Metaport can support transfers between Ethereum and SKALE chains, but its existence is not proof that Moxy used it for MOXY.
The available announcement and SKALE materials do not establish the migration date, destination chain, new contract address, whether the Ethereum token would be locked or remain active, or whether holders would need to take action. They also do not establish exchange support or changes to MOXY’s supply, decimals or token economics. Treat those details as unconfirmed unless Moxy publishes current official instructions and a verifiable contract address. Do not rely on unsolicited messages or unofficial migration links.
What the partnership could change for game publishers
For developers and publishers, the intended appeal is a combination of EVM compatibility, fewer player-facing gas steps and a tournament or gamification layer that need not require a separate token for every game. Moxy’s white paper presents its API approach as a way to reduce the blockchain-development burden for studios; that is a platform design claim, not an independently measured result.

Lower friction may make frequent reward or tournament workflows easier to offer, but the partnership announcement does not disclose which games integrated Moxy, publisher adoption, player counts or transaction volumes. It also does not explain the specific chain arrangement or commercial terms.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Risks gas abstraction does not remove
Removing a visible transaction fee addresses one onboarding obstacle; it does not settle the broader risks of a blockchain game. Players and publishers still need to consider wallet recovery and custody, smart-contract security, bridge exposure, token volatility, liquidity, regulatory treatment of rewards and tournaments, and the potential for cheating or bots. A gasless interface also does not demonstrate that players want tokenized ownership or that a game is enjoyable and commercially sustainable without token incentives.
- Migration confusion: sending MOXY to an unsupported network or contract can put funds at risk.
- Exchange mismatches: deposits or withdrawals may be paused or require updated network support during a migration.
- Fake migration offers: scammers may use a public announcement to solicit wallet connections or approvals.
- Bridge and withdrawal friction: an in-game action may be gasless while moving assets off-chain or across networks involves separate steps or costs.
- Rewards without liquidity: earning a token does not guarantee that it can be readily traded or used.
What later SKALE materials confirm
SKALE’s 2024 year-in-review continued to identify Moxy among its gaming partners, and the SKALE ecosystem directory lists Moxy with a “Pre-TGE” label. These are signs of continued ecosystem recognition, not proof of a completed migration, full commercial deployment or realized savings. The materials available for this account do not provide a Moxy-specific migration report, audited savings figure, transaction data or detailed player rollout instructions.
For a player, publisher or developer evaluating the partnership, the useful evidence would be a current migration guide, a verified token contract and explorer history, clear wallet and exchange support, and disclosed operating and transaction data. Those details would show whether the plan translated into a working player experience; the partnership announcement alone does not.
