In 2026, that makes it a used-card candidate—not an automatic recommendation: the price, condition, warranty, and games you play matter more than its old launch reputation.
What the RTX 2070 offers
The RTX 2070 is built on NVIDIA’s Turing architecture and TU106 GPU. It has 2,304 CUDA cores, 288 Tensor cores and 36 RT cores, plus 8GB of GDDR6 on a 256-bit bus with 448GB/s of memory bandwidth. The RT and Tensor cores provide hardware acceleration for real-time ray tracing and AI features such as DLSS. Tom’s Hardware’s RTX 2070 review documents the chip specifications and features.
The reference card’s rated TDP is 175W; NVIDIA’s Founders Edition is rated at 185W. Those figures describe different versions, so they should not be treated as the power draw of every partner card. EVGA’s XC Gaming is a factory-overclocked variant, with a listed 1710MHz boost clock. EVGA’s specifications list its clock, memory, connectors, and display outputs.
How it performs at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K
1080p
At 1080p, the RTX 2070 was positioned for high-refresh gaming, although the exact result depends on the game and settings. In some titles, the processor can also limit performance before the GPU is fully occupied.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
1440p
1440p was the card’s clearest launch-generation use case. NVIDIA’s October 2018 review roundup described it as a card for 2560×1440 at ultra settings, and Tom’s Hardware found it faster than the GTX 1080 and suited to QHD gaming. The value depended on which model you bought: NVIDIA cited a $499 starting price, while Tom’s Hardware criticized the $600 Founders Edition as expensive for smooth QHD performance. Partner cards around the $499 suggested starting price made more sense at launch. NVIDIA’s review roundup and Tom’s Hardware’s review provide that period context.
4K
The RTX 2070 was less convincing for demanding 4K gaming at ultra settings. Lowering settings or using supported upscaling can change what is playable, but the card’s launch positioning was 1440p, not a promise of consistently smooth 4K ultra performance.

These are launch-era assessments, not a 2026 benchmark. Present-day frame rates vary with the game, driver, graphics settings, ray-tracing mode, and upscaling configuration; do not use 2018 results as a substitute for testing the games you intend to play.
Ray tracing and DLSS: useful features with limits
The 2070’s RT cores enable hardware-accelerated ray tracing, while its Tensor cores support AI features including DLSS. Their presence does not guarantee a good experience in every game: performance depends on the title and the chosen ray-tracing and upscaling settings. TechPowerUp’s EVGA RTX 2070 Black review includes testing of DLSS and ray tracing alongside conventional game performance, power, noise, and temperatures.

EVGA RTX 2070 XC Gaming: specifications to check
EVGA’s documented RTX 2070 XC Gaming model is a dual-slot card with a listed boost clock of 1710MHz and 8GB of GDDR6. Its specification calls for a power supply rated at 550W or greater and both a 6-pin and an 8-pin PCIe power connector. It supports up to four monitors, with DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b listed, and a maximum digital resolution of 7680×4320. These are specifications for the XC Gaming model; confirm the exact board’s label and physical dimensions before buying because model variants can differ.
EVGA RTX 2070 versus GTX 1080
At launch, Tom’s Hardware found the RTX 2070 faster than the GTX 1080 and targeted it at 1440p. The 2070’s distinguishing hardware was its RT and Tensor cores, which enabled supported ray-tracing and DLSS features; a raw raster-performance comparison alone does not capture those options. For a used purchase today, neither the launch result nor the feature list settles value: compare the asking prices, condition, warranty, and performance in the specific games you play.

Should you buy a used EVGA RTX 2070?
Consider one if the price is meaningfully attractive, the particular card is in verifiable working condition, and its performance and feature support suit your game list. The GPU launched in 2018, so age and individual condition matter. Before paying, check:
- The exact EVGA model and whether the seller can demonstrate that it works under load.
- Whether the asking price is worthwhile against other cards actually available to you.
- Warranty status and what, if anything, transfers to a second owner.
- Card length, slot clearance, and case airflow; “dual-slot” alone does not establish length.
- That your PSU has the required capacity and the card’s PCIe power connectors.
- Performance in your own games, including whether they support the ray-tracing or DLSS features you want.
TechPowerUp’s EVGA RTX 2070 Black review examines cooling behavior, fan noise, temperatures, power consumption, overclocking, and the power limit. Its findings concern the Black model tested, not necessarily the XC Gaming or every used EVGA card; cooler condition and fan wear can also vary with age.

Power supply and installation fit
For the XC Gaming, EVGA specifies a 550W-or-greater PSU and one 6-pin plus one 8-pin PCIe power connection. Check that your existing PSU has both native connectors and is suitable for the rest of your system; do not assume a wattage rating alone guarantees compatibility. Also verify case clearance and slot space for the exact card before installation. EVGA lists DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b, up to four displays, and 7680×4320 maximum digital resolution for this model.
Launch value versus today’s used market
The $499 partner-card starting price and $600 Founders Edition price describe the 2018 launch context, not current prices. The RTX 2070 made a stronger case when partner boards were near the lower figure; today, the right comparison is the actual local asking price against available alternatives, adjusted for condition and warranty. Without current testing and verified listings, there is no sound universal used price or price-per-frame verdict.
