AMD CEO Lisa Su said the Radeon RX 9070 XT’s first-week sales were about 10 times those of previous Radeon generations. That is a comparison of launch-week sales—not lifetime sales—and AMD has not disclosed the number of cards sold. The company’s 2024 annual report separately confirms a record first week for the RX 9070 series, without giving a unit total.
What Lisa Su said about RX 9070 XT sales
In a March 2025 interview with ASUS China general manager Tony Yu, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su described the RX 9070 XT as the best-selling Radeon generation in its first week. She said it was “10x higher than previous generations.” Tom’s Hardware reported the statement on March 25, 2025.
The comparison is limited to the first week of availability and prior Radeon generations’ first-week sales. It does not establish that the 9070 XT is AMD’s best-selling GPU over its entire lifetime, nor does it compare Radeon sales with other GPU brands.
How many RX 9070 XT cards sold in week one?
AMD has not published a unit count. The “10x” figure is a relative comparison, not a tally, so it cannot be converted into a specific number of cards from the information available.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
AMD’s 2024 annual report corroborates the launch’s strong start: it says the Radeon RX 9070 series launched in early 2025 “to very strong demand” and set “a new record for first-week sales.” The filing does not quantify that record. Read AMD’s SEC filings.
The annual report supports the record-first-week claim, but neither it nor Su’s interview provides an independently audited sell-through dataset. The 10× comparison should therefore be understood as Su’s attributed statement, not as a public count of retail purchases.

What the RX 9070 XT is—and what the sales claim does not tell you
The RX 9070 XT is a discrete Radeon RX 9000-series graphics card based on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture. AMD showed add-in-board versions from multiple partners, including Acer, ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, Sapphire, XFX, Yeston and Vastarmor. AMD’s launch keynote shows partner cards.
Those partner versions are not necessarily identical. Cooler design, dimensions, factory overclock, warranty, price and local stock depend on the specific board and market. A strong launch-week sales claim says nothing by itself about the noise, temperatures, performance or availability of any particular model.

Choosing an RX 9070 XT model
Use the sales milestone as context, not as a reason to choose one partner card over another. Compare the exact model listings available where you live, and check:
- Price: Compare the current price of the specific card, not just the model family.
- Cooler and noise: Look for independent testing of the exact board if acoustics or temperatures matter to you.
- Dimensions: Confirm the card will fit your case, including its length and thickness.
- Factory clock: Check whether the board has a factory overclock and whether its price premium is worthwhile to you.
- Power connection: Verify the card’s connector requirements and that your power supply can support the configuration.
- Warranty and stock: Check the terms for your region and confirm that the retailer has the exact model available.
Prices and availability change by retailer and market, so check current listings before buying. The first-week record does not establish that all partner versions share the same performance or are equally easy to find.
