There is no official native Android version of either The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion or Oblivion Remastered. You can still play on an Android phone, tablet, or handheld by streaming from a cloud service or your own PC or Xbox. The original 2006-era PC game may also run locally through an unofficial Windows compatibility environment such as Winlator, but that is an experiment, not a reliable plug-and-play option.
First, identify which Oblivion you mean
| Version | Official Android app? | Most realistic way to play on Android |
|---|---|---|
| Original Oblivion or Game of the Year Edition | No | Stream from a PC, or experiment with a Windows compatibility layer |
| Oblivion Remastered | No | Cloud gaming or remote play from a capable PC or Xbox |
| Console edition | No direct Android execution | Xbox remote play or cloud gaming where supported |
Bethesda’s platform information lists Oblivion Remastered for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC and Game Pass, not as an Android release (Bethesda platform information). Its official game page likewise does not list Android (Bethesda’s Oblivion Remastered page). Do not mistake The Elder Scrolls: Blades, another Bethesda game with an Android version, for Oblivion; nor are an APK listing, a compatibility tool, or a streamed session an official port.

The original game
The original Windows game is sold on Steam in Game of the Year and Deluxe editions. The Game of the Year edition includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions (Steam product page). Buying it there gives you a PC game, not an Android app.
Oblivion Remastered
The remaster is a separate, much more demanding release. It includes the original game’s previously released story expansions and DLC, but is not an Android-native game (Bethesda’s game page). The original’s old PC specifications do not establish that the remaster will run locally on a phone.

Which Android method should you choose?
| Your situation | Best-fit method | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| You want Oblivion Remastered with little setup | Cloud gaming | Supported region and device, a qualifying service/account, stable internet and preferably a controller |
| You own a supported PC-storefront copy and want cloud access | GeForce NOW | Supported storefront access, a GeForce NOW account and membership, compatible device and connection |
| You already have a gaming PC or Xbox | Remote play | A capable host that stays on and connected, plus a remote-play client and network |
| You want the original game to run on the Android device itself | Winlator, experimentally | Legitimate Windows game files, compatible ARM64 device, setup time and tolerance for glitches |
| You want an official Android install or reliable offline play | None of these is an official Android port | Use a supported PC or console, or choose another game |
Cloud gaming: the simplest route for Remastered
Cloud gaming runs the game on a remote server and streams the picture and sound to your Android device. Your phone is a screen and input device; it is not rendering the game locally. It is usually the least involved option for Oblivion Remastered, but the title must be available in the service’s current catalog for your region and plan.
Xbox Cloud Gaming
Xbox says its cloud gaming supports Android phones and tablets running Android 12 or later. Cloud access requires a Game Pass subscription, and eligible titles, plans, features and regions can change. Check the live Xbox cloud library for Oblivion Remastered before subscribing rather than assuming it will remain available (Xbox on mobile; Xbox Cloud Gaming).
Xbox’s connection guidance calls for at least 10 Mbps download bandwidth; some devices may benefit from 20 Mbps, and Xbox recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi (Xbox Cloud Gaming connection guidance). Those figures are service guidance, not a guarantee of smooth play: latency, network congestion, distance from a server and Wi-Fi quality all matter. A controller is strongly preferable for this first-person RPG; touch controls are available only for selected games.
Rank #2
- Create and play any character you can imagine, from the noble warrior to the sinister assassin to the wizened sorcerer
- All-new 1st-person combat and magic systems for a new level of intensity
- Groundbreaking AI where NPCs will make their own choices - they'll even eat, sleep, and complete goals all on their own
- More than 1000 NPCs come to life like never before -- complete with facial animations and unscripted conversations
- Open-Ended Game Play - The world of Oblivion is massive and completely open to exploration -- filled with shorter challenges like ighting bandits, mixing potions, creating magic items and persuading friends
- Check that Xbox Cloud Gaming is supported where you live, then confirm Oblivion Remastered is in the live cloud catalog.
- Confirm your Android device meets the service’s current requirements; Xbox lists Android 12 or later for phones and tablets.
- Make sure your Game Pass subscription qualifies for cloud gaming in your region.
- Open Xbox’s supported cloud route, sign in, and pair a compatible controller over Bluetooth or USB.
- Test the stream on a strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection before committing to a long session or save.
GeForce NOW
NVIDIA’s supported-games page lists The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (NVIDIA supported games). GeForce NOW runs a cloud PC rather than streaming from your own computer. You generally need an account and suitable membership, access to the game through a supported PC storefront, a supported Android route and a stable connection. Storefront, membership, region and session conditions can vary, so verify the current service details before relying on it.
NVIDIA documents several edition and save caveats on its game-support page: the Steam version has a known Steam Cloud synchronization issue between GeForce NOW and a gaming PC; Performance members may see a CPU-core warning at launch; and the Xbox PC Game Pass version has an edition-upgrade limitation inside GeForce NOW, for which NVIDIA directs users to Xbox.com to purchase the Deluxe upgrade. Check that page for the current details before choosing a version.
- Sign in to GeForce NOW and confirm the service is available in your region.
- Check that your version and storefront are supported, and that you own or have access to the game through that storefront or subscription.
- Open the supported GeForce NOW Android client or browser route for your region and pair a controller.
- Launch the game and check NVIDIA’s current notes for the storefront and edition you use. Keep separate save backups if Steam Cloud synchronization matters to you.
Cloud gaming and remote play are not the same. GeForce NOW uses NVIDIA’s servers; remote play streams from a computer or console that you own or operate.

Remote play from your own PC or Xbox
Remote play is useful if you already own the game and have a host machine capable of running it. The host performs the rendering; Android receives the stream. It avoids the compatibility and graphics-driver problems of trying to run Windows software directly on a phone, but it does not remove the need for a suitable PC or console.
- Install the game on the PC or Xbox and confirm it runs correctly there first.
- Enable a supported remote-play feature and install its corresponding Android client or use its supported browser.
- Pair a controller with the Android device. Test first on the same Wi-Fi network as the host.
- If the stream stutters, reduce its resolution or bitrate. Where possible, connect the host PC to the router with Ethernet.
- For play away from home, use the service’s supported remote-access method. Router or NAT restrictions may prevent connection; do not expose unnecessary ports to the internet.
The host must remain powered on and connected. When playing over the internet, the host’s upload connection and the Android device’s connection both affect the stream. Local Wi-Fi is generally preferable to mobile data for a steady session.

Can the original game run locally through Winlator?
Possibly, on some devices, but there is no universal configuration or guarantee. Winlator describes itself as an Android application for running Windows x86_64 applications using Wine and Box86/Box64 (Winlator). It is a Windows compatibility environment, not a conventional game-console emulator and not a Bethesda-supported way to play.
Rank #4
- Create and play any character you can imagine, from the noble warrior to the sinister assassin to the wizened sorcerer
- Next-generation graphics for lifelike towns, dungeons, realistic forests and amazing weather effects
- All-new combat and magic system brings first person role-playing to a new level of intensity where you feel every blow
- Groundbreaking AI gives characters full 24/7 schedules and the ability to make their own choices, based on the world around them
- Features over 1,000 non-player characters who come to life with facial animations, lip-synching, and full speech
Winlator project information gives broad baseline guidance including Android 8 or newer, ARM64-v8a, roughly 3–4 GB of RAM as a minimum baseline and 6 GB recommended; storage guidance varies with the software and game (Winlator project information). These are project-level guidelines, not tested Oblivion requirements and not a promise the game will run. A phone can meet the baseline and still fail because of its graphics driver, firmware, renderer or the game’s behavior.
What affects compatibility
- Chip and graphics driver: Snapdragon/Adreno, MediaTek/Dimensity, Exynos and Tensor devices can behave differently. Adreno driver support, including Turnip compatibility, and Vulkan or renderer behavior can make a major difference.
- Memory, heat and storage: RAM pressure, storage speed and thermal throttling can cause stalls or crashes even when a game launches.
- Software and configuration: Android firmware, 64-bit support, container settings, game edition and graphics renderer all matter.
- Extra software: Mods, script extenders, launchers and third-party patches add failure points. Establish whether an unmodded base game works before trying them.
- Controls: The PC original was designed for keyboard and mouse. Touch input can be awkward for menus, inventory, spells and combat; a gamepad may still need manual mapping.
A cautious setup outline
Use this as an experimental workflow, not a guaranteed recipe. Settings proven on one phone, Winlator build and game version may not transfer to another.
- Obtain a legitimate Windows copy of the original game. Winlator runs the game files; an arbitrary “Oblivion APK” is not a substitute.
- Get Winlator from its official project source and review the project’s current device guidance.
- Create a container suited to your device’s architecture and graphics driver. Choose the Windows environment and renderer deliberately rather than assuming one setting works for every phone.
- Install or copy the game files into the container and point it to the game executable.
- Start at a conservative resolution and configure audio and physical-controller mappings.
- Test beyond the title screen: load a game, visit interiors and outdoor areas, enter combat, use loading screens and check saving and reloading.
- Back up saves outside the container. If crashes occur, remove mods and third-party executables before changing one compatibility setting at a time.
Low historical PC requirements make the original a more plausible local experiment than the remaster, not an easy or assured Android install. Do not use those original specifications to claim that Oblivion Remastered will run in Winlator.

Why the original’s requirements do not apply to the remaster
Steam lists the original Windows game with a 2 GHz Pentium 4-class CPU, 512 MB RAM, a 128 MB Direct3D-compatible graphics card, DirectX 9 and 4.6 GB of storage (Steam system requirements). These are specifications for the original release, not for Oblivion Remastered. The remaster is a modern PC and console release, and Bethesda does not list Android as a platform (Bethesda platform information). A modern phone’s fast processor does not make it equivalent to a supported Windows gaming PC, particularly when Windows graphics and system calls must be translated.
Save files, mods and common problems
Cross-save is not universal
Oblivion Remastered supports Xbox Play Anywhere synchronization between Xbox consoles and the Xbox PC app, but Bethesda says cross-save between different platforms is not supported (Bethesda cross-save information). Do not assume a save will follow you between Xbox, Steam, PlayStation or a local compatibility-layer setup. For Winlator, keep manual backups; for GeForce NOW’s Steam version, account for NVIDIA’s documented Steam Cloud sync issue.
A launch is not proof of a working setup
If the game opens but fails later, likely variables include an incompatible renderer or driver, memory limits, heat, a launcher or video component, mods, or a game version different from the one in a setup guide. Test a complete play loop, including saving and loading, before investing time in a long campaign.
Do not trust random “Oblivion APK” downloads
A search result or video thumbnail does not establish that an official Android port exists. Avoid APKs or installers from unclear sources, pirated game files, and downloads that ask you to disable Android security protections. Use legitimate PC game files and the official project source for compatibility software.
