Deep Silver has scheduled the console update for October 29, 2026. As of October 3, 2026, it is announced but not available to install. The publisher separately schedules the PC release for October 22, 2026; that earlier date does not apply to consoles. Deep Silver’s announcement
How to check for the update on PS5
These are PlayStation’s standard PS5 game-update steps, not a Metro-specific process confirmed by Deep Silver before release. They will only find the update once it is available for your game.
- Connect your PS5 to the internet and open the game. PlayStation says starting a game automatically updates it to the newest available version.
- To check manually, highlight the game on the console’s home screen or in the game library, press the controller’s Options button, then select Check for Update.
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
PS5 can also download or install game updates during rest mode, depending on the console’s update and rest-mode settings. See PlayStation’s game update guidance for the general procedure and update settings.

How to check for the update on Xbox Series X|S
Deep Silver confirms Xbox Series X|S support and the October 29 release date, but its announcement does not provide an Xbox menu path or say that the update will install automatically. When the release date arrives, check your console’s game update controls or consult Xbox support for updating games. Do not assume the update is available before the scheduled date.
Is the update free, and which copies qualify?
Deep Silver describes the update as free for existing owners of either METRO 2033 Redux or METRO Last Light Redux. The announcement does not specify whether particular PS4 or Xbox One disc editions, regions, or storefront entitlements qualify on a newer console. If you are unsure whether your copy counts, check that the game appears in your console library and consult platform or publisher support after release. The announcement does not establish that an owner must buy another copy to install the update.

What the console update is announced to include
Deep Silver says the update preserves the original Redux aesthetic rather than remaking or remastering the games. Announced changes include 4K textures across platforms, more detailed animation and environments, higher-quality audio, community bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. The publisher also describes improved console lighting, shadows, and particle effects.
For consoles, the publisher advertises true 4K at 60 FPS or upscaled 4K at 120 FPS with suitable display hardware. These are announced options, not independently verified performance results; the 120 FPS mode depends on a compatible TV or monitor. Platform-specific features announced include PSSR on PS5 Pro, TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing on Xbox Series X, spatial audio on Xbox platforms, DualSense adaptive triggers, and Xbox impulse triggers. Deep Silver says full technical patch notes will be revealed at launch, so further implementation details are not yet established.
