Gigabyte’s AORUS GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Waterforce WB Xtreme Edition 11G is a 2017 graphics card built for a custom liquid-cooling loop. Its factory-installed full-cover water block cools the GPU, memory and other critical components, but it is not a self-contained liquid cooler: buyers must supply the pump, reservoir, radiator, tubing and coolant. Gigabyte lists the card as a legacy product, so it is now chiefly a used-market or remaining-stock purchase.
What launched, and when?
AORUS announced two liquid-cooled GTX 1080 Ti models worldwide on June 26, 2017. The Waterforce WB Xtreme Edition 11G is the open-loop model; the separate Waterforce Xtreme Edition 11G has a sealed, closed-loop cooler instead. AnandTech reported the formal announcement on June 30, 2017, noting that Gigabyte had not announced pricing at that time. AnandTech’s launch report and the AORUS product listing identify the product and its cooling design.
What does the WB version require?
“WB” denotes the water-block version. The card arrives with a full-cover WATERFORCE block and G1/4-inch fittings, but users must integrate it into a compatible custom loop. The block has a copper base plate and is designed to cool the GPU, VRAM and other vital components. A complete installation still needs a pump, reservoir, radiator, tubing and coolant, plus compatible fittings and a case arrangement that can accommodate the loop.
The non-WB Waterforce Xtreme Edition is a different product with a sealed all-in-one radiator. That design avoids building an open loop and is the simpler option for someone seeking liquid cooling without sourcing loop components separately. The two cards should not be treated as interchangeable versions of one cooler: one connects to a custom loop, while the other comes with its own closed-loop assembly. AORUS’s specification page and AnandTech’s launch coverage describe the distinction.

These are Gigabyte’s listed specifications for the legacy product. Its other listed features include RGB Fusion 2.0, AORUS VR Link, a 12+2 power-phase design and a metal back plate. Gigabyte also advertised a four-year AORUS Care claim subject to online registration requirements; check the original terms and whether they can apply to a secondhand purchase rather than assuming coverage transfers. VR Link and display connections
AORUS VR Link provides a front-facing HDMI connection intended to make headset connections easier while the rear outputs remain in use. The GPU’s display controller limits simultaneous output to four displays. In VR mode, the DVI-D output is excluded; users can select among the card’s three DisplayPort and three HDMI connections. The presence of seven physical display connectors therefore does not mean seven displays can run simultaneously. AnandTech explains the output limit and VR mode.

Which water blocks fit this exact card?
Compatibility depends on the exact PCB and revision, not just the GTX 1080 Ti GPU. EKWB’s compatibility listings identify revision 1.0 of the GV-N108TAORUSX WB-11GD as compatible with the EK-FC1080 GTX Ti Aorus RGB – Nickel full-cover block and EK-FC1080 GTX Ti Aorus Backplate – Black. EKWB marks those listings end-of-life, so they are leads for specialist used or remaining stock rather than assurance of current availability. EKWB’s GPU compatibility list
Watercool’s HEATKILLER compatibility table also names the exact card as compatible with its custom-loop products. Before buying a replacement block or backplate, compare the card’s model and revision with the maker’s compatibility entry, then confirm the particular part number and condition with the seller. Power, fit and used-card checks
- Power supply: Plan for the two 8-pin GPU connectors and Gigabyte’s 600W recommended PSU. The recommendation is for the system configuration assumed by the manufacturer, not a promise that every 600W unit is suitable; check the PSU’s available connectors and overall system load.
- Physical space: The card is 266.7 mm long and 28.25 mm high by Gigabyte’s dimensions. Also account for tubing clearance and the placement of the rest of the custom loop.
- Loop readiness: The block’s G1/4-inch fittings describe its connection standard, not a complete cooling kit. Verify that your fittings, tubing and loop components match your planned setup.
- Condition and identity: Confirm the exact GV-N108TAORUSX WB-11GD model and board revision. For a used liquid-cooled card, ask about prior loop use, leaks, corrosion, block condition and whether the card has been tested; the specification sheet cannot establish the condition of an individual listing.
Price and availability
There is no authoritative launch MSRP in the cited 2017 announcement coverage: AnandTech reported that Gigabyte had not announced a price. A Walmart Marketplace listing displayed USD 1,029 when captured for this article’s source material, but a marketplace asking price is volatile, is not an MSRP and should not be treated as a current valuation without checking the live listing. Because Gigabyte marks the product legacy, availability and condition can vary substantially between remaining stock and used listings. AnandTech’s announcement report; Walmart Marketplace listing
