Whether a specific game is leaving, and what it costs, depends on the current listing for your region, plan and platform.
What happens when a Game Pass game leaves?
Xbox says subscribers can access games in the library until their subscription is canceled or expires, or the game leaves the library. Once a title leaves, it is no longer available through the subscription. Game Pass access is not the same as owning a game.

Xbox’s Game Pass FAQ describes access as lasting until the subscription ends or a game leaves the library.
Can you keep playing a game after it leaves?
Xbox’s Game Pass catalog tells members to buy departing games to keep playing. The catalog advertises savings of up to 20% with a member discount, but that is an offer ceiling, not a guaranteed discount on every departing game. Check the individual game listing to see whether a discount applies and what the current price is.

How to check a departing game’s availability and price
- Open the current Xbox Game Pass catalog and find the game’s listing or departing-games notice.
- Check the listing for the platform you play on and confirm the game is available in your region and plan.
- Review the listed purchase price and any member discount before deciding whether to buy.
Xbox says game titles, features and availability vary over time, by region, plan and platform. The departing-games notice and offers can also change, so a listing or discount seen earlier may no longer apply.
What about your save and installed copy?
The Xbox FAQ and catalog pages cited above do not say whether saves remain available after a title leaves, or whether a downloaded installation will launch without another license. Do not assume either outcome. For a definite answer about a particular game and platform, check with Xbox Support.
