Find out when the game is leaving
Check the current Game Pass catalog and Xbox’s leaving-soon notices for the title and its departure date. Xbox has historically surfaced departures in its Game Pass mobile app, Xbox app on Windows, the Game Pass section on console, Xbox Wire posts, and mobile notifications. That guidance comes from a November 2020 Xbox Wire explainer; its statement that subscribers would get “a couple weeks’ notice” is historical, not a current notice-time guarantee. Because catalog dates change, rely on the current listing or notice rather than an old article or a remembered departure date. Xbox Wire’s February 3, 2026 post, for example, said Madden NFL 24 was leaving on February 15 and invited members to save up to 20% on a purchase. That was a dated example, not a current offer or a promise that every departing game gets a discount. See the February 2026 announcement.
Check whether the exact game is eligible
Open the game’s Xbox Store listing while it is still in the catalog. Check the displayed member price and discount for the exact game and edition you want. Xbox’s current deals page says Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass for Console, and PC Game Pass subscribers can get up to 20% off select games in the library. “Up to” is a maximum, not a guaranteed discount rate; some titles are unavailable, and titles within 30 days of launch are excluded. Check Xbox’s live Game Pass deals.

A game’s presence in Game Pass—or a notice that it is leaving—does not establish that it qualifies. The listing’s current offer is the useful check. Offers and prices can vary by title, edition, region, and time, so compare the final price shown to your account with any other available price you are considering.
Buy through the Xbox Store before removal
- Open the game’s Store listing. Verify that it is the correct title and edition, and that it is still available in the Game Pass catalog.
- Review the current member price. Confirm that the listing shows a Game Pass offer and check the final price before checkout. If no member price appears, do not assume a departure discount applies.
- Complete the digital purchase through the Store listing if the price and edition suit you. Xbox’s cited offer is for Xbox Store game purchases; it does not establish the same discount for third-party retailers or physical copies.
Xbox has used purchase prompts in leaving-soon announcements, but the live Store listing—not an old announcement—is the place to verify an offer for a specific game. - The listing is for the title and edition you intend to buy.
- The Game Pass member offer is currently displayed for your account and region.
- The final price works for you and the purchase is the digital Xbox entitlement you want.
- You have checked the current catalog departure information rather than relying on an outdated date.
