For a player who wants the monthly Crew Pack and will use premium pass access, Fortnite Crew is usually the better fit. If you only want V-Bucks for a particular skin—or want to avoid a recurring subscription—buying V-Bucks is the simpler choice. Crew grants 800 V-Bucks per active subscription month, the same nominal amount Epic lists for the Battle Royale Battle Pass beginning March 19, 2026. The other Crew benefits may add value, but only if you want them.
What you get with Fortnite Crew
Epic currently lists three benefits for active Crew subscribers: 800 V-Bucks each month, a monthly exclusive Crew Pack, and premium access to the passes included in its current offer. The included passes and bonus benefits can change, so check Epic’s current Crew benefits page or the in-game offer before subscribing.

The 800 V-Bucks are a useful baseline for comparison, but Crew is a subscription bundle, not a cash refund. A Crew Pack or pass access has value to you only if you want the cosmetics or plan to use the pass rewards.
What buying V-Bucks gives you
A direct V-Bucks purchase gives you currency to spend on eligible Fortnite content without signing up for Crew. Epic’s current US Epic Games Store listing shows these packages and prices:
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
| V-Bucks | US price |
|---|---|
| 800 | $8.99 |
| 2,400 | $22.99 |
| 4,500 | $36.99 |
| 12,500 | $89.99 |
These are US Epic Games Store prices, not a universal price list; prices and availability may differ by region or platform. Epic’s listing also says Epic Store V-Bucks cannot be used on Nintendo Switch. Check the store listing for the offer that applies to you.
Buying V-Bucks is not the only way to get them. Epic says players can earn V-Bucks through Free Pass or Battle Pass progression, buy packs, or use physical V-Bucks cards from authorized retailers and online. Cards may be country-restricted: Epic’s card terms say a card distributed in one country may only be redeemed to an account registered there.

How the Battle Pass price compares
Starting March 19, 2026, the Battle Royale Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks, according to Epic Games Support. That matches one active month of Crew’s 800-V-Bucks grant in nominal currency. Crew also includes its current listed pass access and Crew Pack, but those benefits do not make the subscription automatically better: their practical value depends on whether you want them and will use them during the billing period. Epic describes a pass as lasting one season in its pass guide.
Choose based on what you actually want
Fortnite Crew is likely better if…
- You want this month’s exclusive Crew Pack.
- You expect to use one or more premium passes included in the current Crew offer.
- You play regularly enough to benefit during the subscription month and are comfortable with automatic renewal.
Buying V-Bucks is likely better if…
- You have one particular Item Shop skin in mind and want to buy only the currency you need.
- You do not want the Crew cosmetics or pass benefits.
- You want a capped one-time purchase instead of a subscription that renews until cancelled.
If you are comparing costs, consider how many months you would actually keep Crew active, not just the first month. Then weigh the V-Bucks grant against the Crew Pack and pass access you personally expect to use. Do not count every pass reward as if it were equivalent to spendable currency.

Rank #3
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
Know the renewal, cancellation, and platform rules
Crew renews until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals, but benefits remain available through the end of the current billing period. Epic’s subscription terms say content received or earned is retained. Battle Pass premium rewards have a separate access rule: players who joined Crew after December 1, 2024 need an active subscription to claim those rewards, so cancellation does not guarantee continued premium-reward access after the billing period. Review Epic’s Crew terms and Battle Pass access guidance for the rules that apply to your account.
Platform also matters. Epic’s Crew terms warn that V-Bucks granted through Crew may not be redeemable on platforms other than the subscription’s primary platform. Combined with the Epic Store’s Nintendo Switch restriction and country limits on some physical cards, this means you should confirm where your currency can be spent before purchasing or subscribing.
