Yes—many Fortnite skins bought in the Item Shop with V-Bucks can be returned, but the route depends on how you got the skin and when you bought it. You can cancel an eligible, unused purchase within 24 hours; after that, a Return Ticket may cover an eligible purchase made within the last 30 days. Battle Pass rewards are not returnable through these tools, and purchases made with real money follow a separate refund process.
First identify how you got the skin
Fortnite’s in-game cancellation and Return Ticket tools are for eligible Item Shop purchases made with V-Bucks. A skin earned as a Battle Pass reward is not an eligible purchase under these tools. If you paid real money, or another storefront processed the payment, use the refund route for that transaction instead.

Epic’s current guidance excludes several other categories from Cancel Purchase and Return Tickets, including gifts, Passes and Pass levels, Premium Reward Tracks, Level Up Quest Packs, certain Save the World items, developer-made island purchases, and cosmetic bundles. Eligibility can depend on the specific purchase category, so check the item and current official guidance before confirming.
Which return option applies?
| Purchase situation | Epic’s rule | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible V-Bucks Item Shop purchase, within 24 hours | You can use Cancel Purchase if the item has not been used or equipped in any game mode. An item can be canceled once. | Open the return screen promptly and check whether the purchase is eligible. |
| Eligible purchase, more than 24 hours ago but within 30 days | A Return Ticket may be used, if you have one available. | Check your ticket balance and the item’s eligibility. |
| Purchase older than 30 days | The Return Ticket window does not cover it. | These tools do not provide a return for that purchase. |
| Battle Pass skin earned through gameplay | It is not considered an eligible purchase for these tools. | It cannot be returned with Cancel Purchase or a Return Ticket. |
| Real-money purchase | It uses a separate refund process. | Request a refund from Epic or the platform that processed payment. |
How Return Tickets work
Epic’s current help guidance says an account starts with three Return Tickets, can hold up to three at a time, and earns one every 365 days while below the maximum. A ticket can be used on an eligible item purchased within the previous 30 days. If the original purchase was a bundle, the whole bundle must be returned together.

Do not assume support can add a ticket after the Cancel Purchase window has passed and you have none available. Epic says it cannot grant more tickets in that situation.
How to cancel or return an eligible V-Bucks purchase
In Fortnite
- Open the Player Icon menu and look for Support and Refunds, or open Settings → Account and Privacy. The route can vary with the menu version.
- Choose the return or cancellation option and select the purchase you want to review.
- Check the selected item, its eligibility, and the V-Bucks amount shown on screen.
- Confirm only if you want the item removed and the refund applied.
On the web Item Shop
- Sign in to the official Fortnite Item Shop.
- Open the Player Icon menu and select Return and Cancel Purchases.
- Choose Show Purchases, then select the eligible item.
- Review the purchase and confirm. The screen displays the V-Bucks refund.
Epic may change menu labels or locations. If these paths do not match your client, use the current in-game Support and Refunds or Account and Privacy route.

Why a Fortnite skin return may fail
- It was earned, not purchased. Battle Pass rewards are unlocked through gameplay and are not eligible for these refund tools.
- The purchase is too old or you have no ticket. Return Tickets apply to eligible purchases from the last 30 days, and the account limit is three.
- The item or transaction is excluded. Gifts, certain passes and packs, cosmetic bundles, and developer-made island purchases are among the excluded categories listed in Epic’s guidance.
- You used or equipped it during the first 24 hours. That disqualifies it from Cancel Purchase. A Return Ticket might still apply if the purchase is otherwise eligible and within 30 days.
- The account reports a processing error. Epic says the message “There was an error processing your request. Your Return Tickets items and V-Bucks were not changed” can indicate that the selected item is ineligible. Check the official Item Shop refund conditions.
Refunds for real-money purchases
A V-Bucks return is not the same as a cash refund. For a real-money purchase, follow Epic’s refund instructions if Epic processed the payment. If a console platform or another third party handled the transaction, use that provider’s refund process. The applicable route and eligibility depend on where the purchase was made.

Epic says a completed cosmetic refund cannot be reversed, so review the selected item before submitting. Epic also notes that a tokenless refund may be available for certain specific cosmetics in special circumstances; it is not a general option you can request for any skin.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
