Is The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival worth playing on Switch 2? It depends on how much you enjoy old-school beat ’em ups: the game has a broader toolkit and progression system than its simple arcade pitch suggests, but published reviews disagree sharply about whether its combat is satisfying or simply frustrating and repetitive. What kind of game is Streets of Survival?
The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival is a side-scrolling arcade beat ’em up based on AMC’s series. Nintendo’s UK listing says the campaign follows Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne through the All Out War storyline, with walker and Savior encounters and boss fights featuring Negan and Simon. That is the publisher’s description of the game, not an independent assessment of how closely it adapts the story.
Nintendo says the three playable characters have different fighting styles, stats, and signature abilities. Its examples include Rick’s magnum, Michonne’s katana, and Daryl’s crossbow. The listing also advertises multiple difficulty settings, including an optional Easy Mode.
For Switch 2, Nintendo lists a September 18, 2026 release date, one-player single-system play, TV, tabletop, and handheld modes, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, and Portuguese language options, and a 2.2 GB download size. How does the combat feel?
The two available Switch 2 reviews describe the same broad action setup but reach very different conclusions about its execution. PS4Blog’s EdEN, in a review published September 18, 2026, describes light and heavy attacks, dodge rolls, running, vaulting, weapon looting, aimed ranged attacks, healing, and crouching to reduce noise. The review also notes character-specific upgrade nodes. These are EdEN’s observations, not independently tested performance claims.
Switchaboo’s Nathan Rudge gives the game 3/10 in a review dated October 3, 2026. He praises the pixel-art likenesses and environments, but criticizes the difficulty curve, enemy behavior, limited combat variety, and repeated reliance on the same finisher combo. He describes the second mission as a sharp difficulty spike, including an enemy that can defeat the player in one hit, awkward enemy hit boxes, and ranged attackers that can repeatedly knock the player down. In his view, limited ammunition and awkward aiming also make ranged weapons less useful.

EdEN’s 7.5 score reflects a more favorable view of the combat toolkit and progression. The gap between 3/10 and 7.5 is meaningful: these are two attributed opinions, not a broad critical consensus, and both reviewers disclosed receiving a Switch 2 review copy from the publisher or its representatives. If you are sensitive to abrupt difficulty spikes or repetitive encounters, Rudge’s account is particularly relevant; if you want a solo brawler with weapon variety and upgrades to explore, EdEN’s description may better match what appeals to you. What are the solo content and replay options?
Nintendo lists single-system play for one player, and Switchaboo reports that the game has no local or online multiplayer. The advertised repeat runs and multiple difficulty levels therefore speak to solo replay rather than co-op or competitive play.

PS4Blog describes character upgrades purchased with knowledge points and materials, and reports that Negan can be unlocked. Its review also describes Walker Pit, an endless survival-combat mode included in the Arcade Apocalypse Pack DLC. That additional mode does not change Nintendo’s one-player listing or indicate multiplayer support.

The available sources establish Nintendo’s platform listing but do not establish frame rate, resolution, load times, or post-release patch status. There is not enough sourced evidence here to make claims about technical performance on Switch 2. For content context, Steam labels the game a side-scrolling fighting game and warns of frequent blood and gore; Nintendo’s UK store rating is PEGI 16. Steam’s listing provides its content descriptor.

Verdict: Is it worth it on Switch 2?
This is a cautious pick for fans of The Walking Dead who specifically want a solo, side-scrolling brawler and are willing to tolerate a potentially uneven challenge. Its recognizable characters, multiple combat options, upgrades, and replay modes give the concept more shape than a bare-bones punch-and-kick game. But the low Switchaboo score and its concrete complaints about difficulty spikes, knockdowns, and repetition are hard to dismiss, especially when the more positive PS4Blog review does not settle how widely those frustrations will affect players.
If you are primarily looking for multiplayer, a consistently forgiving difficulty curve, or verified technical-performance assurances, the available evidence does not support buying it for those reasons. If the franchise and arcade format are the draw, compare your live regional store options before choosing the base game or Deluxe Edition; the prices above were launch reports, not a current price check.
