No official announcement confirms that Rare is making a new Crash Bandicoot game. The Rare claim has been presented as speculation, while a separate, unverified 2026 leak says a new Crash project may be in development without identifying Rare as its developer.
Where did the Rare rumor come from?
Retro Dodo’s October 2, 2026 article, “Rare Are Rumoured To Be Making A New Crash Bandicoot Game”, frames Rare’s involvement as speculation. It does not cite a named source, leak, or official statement confirming that the studio is working on Crash.

That distinction matters: the article’s headline is not evidence of a development announcement. On Rare’s official news page, reviewed October 3, 2026, no Crash announcement was listed. That establishes only what appeared on the reviewed page, not whether an unannounced project exists.
What does the separate new-game leak say?
June 2026 coverage by Games.gg reported a claim from online leaker No Arms and No Legs that a new Crash project had reportedly been scheduled or greenlit. Games.gg described the claim as unverified; there has been no official confirmation in the sources reviewed. The report does not identify Rare as the developer, so it cannot substantiate the Rare rumor. The leaker’s reported previous Spyro call is context, not confirmation of this claim.

Accordingly, the status is limited: there is a reported but unverified claim about a new project, no confirmed developer, and no reliable release date established here. Platforms, features, and a greenlight should not be treated as facts.
