The weapon is an inspired bit of mobile-suit design, though it tells us more about the kit’s visual appeal than about how the upcoming game will play.
What is the HG 1/144 Bau Bahlam?
PC Gamer reported on 2 October 2026 that Bandai revealed the HG 1/144 Bau Bahlam among its announcements for the 2026 All Japan Model & Hobby Show. It is a High Grade, 1/144-scale model of a mobile suit that appears in GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT. PC Gamer describes the Bau Bahlam as a mono-eye suit, with spiked knuckle plates and an unusually memorable weapon. Those are details from the report; it does not provide a full Bandai product specification sheet. PC Gamer’s report
Why the chainsaw macuahuitl stands out
A macuahuitl is a weapon design associated with Mesoamerican history, typically a wooden club edged with sharp blades. The Bau Bahlam’s version takes that silhouette in a distinctly science-fiction direction: according to PC Gamer, one side has been replaced by a chainsaw. The report also says the kit includes a mock pull-cord, letting builders pose the weapon as if they were revving it up.
It is a playful, legible design hook: a historical weapon reimagined as a mobile-suit accessory, with a little theatrical detail built into the posing. The spiked knuckle plates give the Bau Bahlam another close-combat flourish. That makes the kit striking on the announcement’s terms, without establishing anything about the suit’s role, combat abilities, or handling in the game.

What Steam confirms about GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT
Steam lists GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT for release on 4 March 2027, with Bandai Namco Studios Inc. as developer and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. as publisher. The storefront describes it as a high-mobility action game set in an all-new universe. Its feature listing includes single-player and online co-op. Steam’s store listing
Steam also says players can customize mobile suits with parts and Apocalypse Units (AP-U). That establishes customization as a general feature, but not that the Bau Bahlam’s parts—or its chainsaw macuahuitl in particular—will be available to equip. PC Gamer notes that the suit appeared briefly in a release-date trailer and speculates about its components being usable; the storefront does not confirm that possibility.
