What the guide says makes its S-tier weapons stand out
The guide discusses several different kinds of advantage. Its reported damage values are attributed to Power Up Gaming and may depend on the build, enchantments, measurement choices, or patches; the available account does not establish those assumptions in enough detail to treat the figures as guaranteed results.
War Hammer, Mace, and Short Spear: reported damage with Lightning Surge
- War Hammer: Power Up Gaming reports 500 optimized DPS with Lightning Surge. “Optimized” signals a particular setup, but the guide excerpt does not define it fully.
- Mace: The guide reports 420 DPS for jump attacks with Lightning Surge. This is a specific attack pattern, not a general sustained-DPS comparison.
- Short Spear: The guide reports 414 DPS and 4.5 hits per second with Lightning Surge. Those numbers are the publisher’s measurements, not independently reproduced tests.
Redstone Wrecker and Tornado Blade: area effects
Power Up Gaming describes Redstone Wrecker’s built-in wave as dealing 80% weapon damage and Tornado Blade’s Swirling effect as dealing 60% weapon damage per swing. These are reported effect values; they do not, by themselves, show how either weapon performs across a whole encounter or against a single target.

Pride of the Plains and Awesomeaxe: target bonus and Strength chance
The guide reports that Pride of the Plains gives +40% melee damage to its primary target and lists 51.1 base single-target DPS. It also describes Awesomeaxe as having a 70% chance to boost Strength on hit. The source does not establish that these figures apply independently of all build conditions, so treat them as guide-reported details rather than universal guarantees.
Heartbreaker
Heartbreaker is included in the guide’s S tier, but the evidence summarized here does not provide a specific damage figure or quantified trait for it. Its S placement can be reported; a precise performance explanation cannot be established from the figures above.

How to choose a weapon for your build
Mojang presents the game as allowing players to combine weapons, armor, enchants, talismans, and artifacts to shape their own playstyle. Its official launch announcement and gameplay overview also describe co-op for up to four players, locally or online. In practice, a tier placement is a starting point: judge a weapon by the job you want it to do and the rest of your loadout.
- For sustained damage: look for performance you can maintain across repeated attacks, rather than relying only on a high figure tied to an optimized setup or a particular attack.
- For burst or boss damage: distinguish a strong opening, jump attack, or primary-target bonus from damage that remains consistent throughout a longer fight.
- For groups of enemies: consider reach, waves, and other area effects alongside damage to one target. A weapon that hits several enemies can serve a different role from one ranked for single-target output.
- For control and safety: weigh stagger or crowd control, attack range, and mobility. A lower-ranked weapon may be more useful if its handling suits the way you approach rooms.
- For enchantment synergy: separate an inherent weapon effect from a result that relies on an enchantment such as Lightning Surge. Compare complete loadouts, not weapon names in isolation.
The guide’s own descriptions point to damage, attack rate, reach, single-target performance, area damage, crowd control, mobility, and enchantment interactions as relevant comparison dimensions. It does not provide a common test protocol here that would make every weapon’s reported performance directly comparable.

What to know about the game and the ranking’s limits
Mojang announced that Minecraft Dungeons II launched September 29, 2026, for Steam, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The October 2 tier list is therefore an early post-launch ranking. The available evidence includes one detailed third-party list, not an official Mojang tier list or an independently tested comparison.
Power Up Gaming also says that each regular weapon has a unique variant with special effects. That is the guide’s claim; the material available here does not independently confirm the count or variant system. Since the ranking is dated and early, later patches or further testing may change how well its placements describe current play.
