Which horror game should you buy?
For co-op horror: The Outlast Trials
Choose The Outlast Trials if you want to play with other people. Steam’s tags explicitly identify it as Multiplayer and Co-op, alongside Horror and Survival Horror. These are Steam classifications; they do not by themselves describe every feature or mode in the game.
For survival horror with a third-person-shooter label: Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem is the newer option in this group and Steam tags it both Survival Horror and Third-Person Shooter. Its reported 30% discount is smaller than the reported cuts on several older titles, so compare the actual local price rather than choosing by percentage alone.
For a deeper reported discount: Resident Evil 2, Dead Space, or Darkwood
GameWatcher’s sale roundup reported Resident Evil 2 and Dead Space at 80% off, and Darkwood at 90% off. The evidence available here does not establish a finer play-style comparison for these games, so use their Steam pages to confirm details that matter to you before deciding.

Resident Evil 2 - PlayStation 5- TERRIFYING ZOMBIES WAITING AROUND EVERY CORNER -- Driven by insatiable hunger, these creatures act on instinct, gnashing their teeth, ripping at flesh, and devouring their victims. The new immersive camera lets you feel their fangs as they sink into your flesh.
- RACCOON CITY, REBUILT IN INTRICATE DETAIL -- The characters, environments, and story have all been rebuilt from the ground up to create a terrifying world that feels both nostalgic and new.
- NEW FOR PLAYSTATION5 – Upgraded features new to the PlayStation5 version of the game include a higher frame rate, 3D audio, added ray tracing, and engaging DualSense support for Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers.
-
Compare the final price, not just the discount percentage. A larger percentage does not necessarily mean a lower amount to pay, particularly when comparing older games with a newer release.
-
If you are considering several games in a series, check whether Steam offers a publisher bundle. PC Gamer recommends checking bundles as a shopping tip, but availability and savings are not guaranteed in every region or during this sale.
