The game is Project Wingman, an indie combat-flight game built around arcade-style action rather than strict simulation. PC Gamer reported a $12.50 Steam sale price on October 1, 2026, but that is a dated, regional promotion—not a guaranteed price today. Steam’s listing accessed October 3 showed a yen-denominated offer ending October 8, so check the store page for your local price and whether the sale is still active.
What is Project Wingman?
Developed by Sector D2 and published by Sector D2 and Balor Games, Project Wingman launched on Steam on December 1, 2020. It is an Ace Combat-style alternative in the sense that it emphasizes accessible, action-oriented combat flight; that comparison does not mean the games are identical or that one is categorically better.
Steam describes it as a combat flight action game focused on polished gameplay and a single-player experience. Its listing says the game includes more than 20 aircraft and more than 40 weapons. Those options give players room to change aircraft and loadouts as they progress without making the game a simulator-first product.
What does the reported $12.50 sale mean?
PC Gamer’s Lincoln Carpenter reported the $12.50 Steam price on October 1, 2026. Steam’s listing accessed October 3 displayed a regional price in yen and an offer end date of October 8, rather than confirming that USD amount. The price may differ by country, currency, and promotion status; use the live Steam listing to check what you would pay. The $12.50 figure is not a verified regular price or a universal current offer.

How the game plays—and what else it offers
Action flight, not a strict simulator
Project Wingman is aimed at pick-up-and-play combat flight. Its focus is fast aerial action, not reproducing the demands of real-world flight procedures. Steam lists support for VR and HOTAS peripherals, including DirectInput-supported devices and custom axis curves. These are optional ways to play, not requirements.
Campaign and Conquest Mode
The single-player campaign is not the only mode. Conquest Mode adds a longer progression loop built around capturing territory and acquiring aircraft, with roguelike and RPG elements, according to Steam’s description. That gives players another structure to pursue beyond the campaign’s missions.
