Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Steam generated an estimated $1.7 billion in September 2026, according to Alinea Analytics, which called it the platform’s “best September to date.” Wardogs led the new releases highlighted in the analysis, with estimated September Steam revenue of $86.9 million. These are analyst estimates, not Valve-confirmed totals.
What Alinea’s September estimate says
Alinea Analytics estimates Steam revenue at $1.7 billion for September 2026. The firm also estimates $5.5 billion for the third quarter, up 12% year over year, and $16.5 billion for the first nine months of 2026, up 13% from $14.5 billion over the same period in 2025. Rhys Elliott, Alinea Analytics’ head of market analysis, described September as “the platform’s best September to date.” Alinea Analytics is the source of the estimates; the available reporting does not establish independent Valve confirmation.
The figures are estimates, not audited or official Steam revenue disclosures. The published material does not detail the estimation method or specify how it treats regional differences, refunds, taxes, discounts or platform fees. The figures therefore should not be read as unit sales, profit, revenue across all platforms, or a measure of how many players a game retained.
Which new releases led the month?
Alinea’s September 2026 Steam revenue estimates for the named releases put Wardogs first among the highlighted new launches. The amounts below refer to estimated Steam revenue for September, not lifetime earnings or sales across platforms.

The figures are Alinea estimates reported by PC Gamer; the available reporting does not provide a regional split or comparable figures for other platforms. Wardogs’ estimate is substantially higher than the other named launches, but it does not by itself show how many copies sold or how much the game earned after costs.
New IP gained ground, but established series remained dominant
Alinea’s breakdown covers the top 500 top-grossing Steam games, a group it says represented about three-quarters of September revenue. Within that analyzed group, new 2026 IP accounted for 20.5% of revenue, while established IP accounted for about 79.5%. That split describes the top-500 group, not every Steam game or the whole market independently of Alinea’s analysis. It also shows why the new-release standouts should not be mistaken for a wholesale shift away from established franchises.

Revenue estimates and attention are different comparisons
Alinea separately characterized Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 as having more sustained hype cycles and virality than Wardogs. That is a qualitative interpretation, not a quantified virality metric, and it should not be conflated with the September revenue estimates in the table. The available figures do not establish which game had more players, longer-term engagement, or broader success across platforms.
