Vincent D’Onofrio publicly defended his Daredevil co-star Deborah Ann Woll after an X user criticized the look of Faye’s armor skins in the upcoming God of War: Laufey. The exchange centered on one user’s complaint—not evidence of a broad player consensus—and followed the reveal of preorder and Digital Deluxe content.
What D’Onofrio said about Deborah Ann Woll
In a reply posted September 30, 2026, D’Onofrio rejected the user’s criticism and praised Woll personally and professionally. Dexerto transcribed his post: “Not that you asked, but… In no way do I agree with you. Deborah is beautiful and extremely talented. She is as smart as a whip and a complete nerd. Also incredibly kind.” He later called Woll “a good friend” and added: “I am a fan of God of War. I for one cannot wait to play the new game with my son.” (Dexerto’s report)
What prompted the exchange
Dexerto reported that an X account posted images comparing two Faye armor sets and called for a boycott. The user argued that the developer had chosen “feminism over their jobs” and would “rather go bankrupt than give you an ounce of female attractiveness.” Those are the poster’s words, not an established description of what players broadly think.
Coverage says comments about Faye’s appearance surfaced after the game’s unveiling and returned after armor and edition details were announced. The criticism that the game centers on Kratos’ late partner rather than Kratos himself is a separate objection; it should not be treated as the same argument about the armor. (Push Square)

What the game listing says about editions
Sony’s UK PlayStation listing identifies God of War: Laufey as a PS5 game. Its edition details help explain why the armor became part of the discussion:
| Edition | Format or included content listed by Sony |
|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Full game in digital or physical form. Listed preorder bonuses: Last Wish Armour Set, Phranque’s Golden Leaves Appearance, and an in-game resource pack. |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | Digital mini artbook, soundtrack, Dark Alchemy Equipment Set, and an in-game resource pack. |
These are the details on Sony’s official UK game page. Availability, prices, release timing, and edition contents can change, so check the listing before buying. The Standard Edition is listed in physical PS5 form as well as digital form; the reports do not establish that the game is already released.

Do the posts show a wider player backlash?
They show that criticism was posted and covered, but the available reports do not establish how representative those complaints are. ComicBook.com reported that D’Onofrio’s reply had more than two million views at the time of its article. That is a time-sensitive view count, not a count of people who agreed with either the poster or D’Onofrio, and it cannot measure player opinion. (ComicBook.com)
