Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll’s Daredevil co-star, publicly defended her after online criticism connected to her role as Faye in the upcoming God of War Laufey, according to ComicBook.com. The report says the flare-up followed the game’s preorder and deluxe-edition announcements, including discussion of bonus armor. Woll, for her part, was reported as saying she felt largely unbothered and was confident in the game.
What happened between Vincent D’Onofrio and Deborah Ann Woll?
ComicBook.com reported on October 1, 2026, that D’Onofrio responded to a critical social-media post about Woll and her role in God of War Laufey. The outlet quoted him as writing: “Not that you asked, but in no way do I agree with you.” It also reported that he praised Woll and said he looked forward to playing the game with his son.
The original post was not independently verified here, so the wording and account of the exchange should be understood as ComicBook.com’s reporting, rather than a direct confirmation from D’Onofrio’s account. Read ComicBook.com’s October 1 report.
Why was Woll facing online criticism?
ComicBook.com connected the criticism to Woll’s portrayal of Faye and said the immediate news-cycle trigger was the game’s preorder announcement and deluxe-edition details, including the appearance of bonus armor. That describes the episode covered by the outlet; it does not establish that all players shared those views or that the response represented the wider gaming audience.

The report characterizes the criticism as online attacks and harassment, but the available account does not establish the full scale or representativeness of the reaction. It is best understood as a reported episode of online backlash, not evidence of a coordinated campaign.
What did Deborah Ann Woll say about the response?
ComicBook.com also reported Woll’s response to being asked about harassment. The outlet quoted her saying: “One, I’m not on social media, so that helps,” and adding that she felt “totally unbothered” because she believed the game was great. She said it was okay if the game was not someone’s “cup of tea,” but that “in no universe is it bad.”

Her reported comments make clear that she was not presenting herself as distressed or asking others to speak for her. D’Onofrio’s reply was a public show of support for his co-star; Woll’s own reported perspective was that she felt confident in the game and largely unaffected by the online reaction.
