GoldenEye 007 Plus documents a third-person gameplay feature for PC, but its project page does not establish a finished, ready-to-install release. A separate native PC port is documented as playable, but it does not document a selectable third-person gameplay camera. The distinction matters: the feature is described in a development modification, not in the PC port.
Two different projects—and only one documents third-person gameplay
GoldenEye 007 Plus is an R22-derived modification whose development tree, at internal checkpoint V90 dated September 28, 2026, describes third-person gameplay with adjustable camera and crosshair tuning. It also documents work on cutscene handoffs and the alignment of projectiles, beams, and tracers. That is evidence the feature is part of the project’s documented development, not confirmation from independent testing that a finished PC build is available or that its camera works as described.
The separate native GoldenEye 007 PC port is built from reconstructed source for the 1997 Nintendo 64 game. Its README mentions positioning Bond’s third-person model, but that refers to the rendered character model—not a selectable third-person gameplay camera. The port should not be presented as the way to play the game in third person.
What the native PC port offers
The port’s v0.4.0 release, dated September 28, 2026, is documented for Windows and Linux, including Steam Deck. The project README reports that all 20 single-player missions are playable from start to finish at a steady 60 fps. These are the developers’ status claims, not results from independent performance testing. The project remains pre-1.0.

The original Nintendo 64 game, released in 1997, has 20 single-player levels and multiplayer for two to four players, according to The GoldenEye Depot. The PC port’s cited status concerns its single-player campaign; it does not establish multiplayer availability.
What you need to run the native port
The port does not include the original game’s ROM or assets. Its README requires a user-supplied supported NTSC-U (US) GoldenEye 007 ROM in .z64 format, placed in the project’s specified data folder before launching the executable. Follow the project’s own README for the exact folder path and platform-specific launch instructions. PAL and Japanese ROM support are listed as roadmap items, not supported options for this release.

Can you install GoldenEye 007 Plus on a PC now?
The project repository describes the third-person feature, but the reviewed project information does not document an end-user PC release, installation steps, supported PC operating systems, or exact camera settings. It also does not independently verify the camera behavior. As a result, the feature is not enough on its own to establish a reproducible, ready-to-play PC installation route.

GoldenEye 007 Plus’s repository describes its contents as source code and project material, not as a substitute for the original game. Do not assume it supplies a playable copy or the ROM required by the native port.
