The Steelers rallied from a 21-10 halftime deficit to tie the game late before the Browns kicked the winner with 10 seconds remaining.
Rodgers’ numbers tell only part of the story
Rodgers completed 22 of 40 passes for 299 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, according to the Steelers’ official box score. Pittsburgh’s game recap adds that he was sacked five times and completed passes to eight different receivers.
The production and the mistakes came together in the same game: Rodgers helped create all three of Pittsburgh’s passing touchdowns and a late tie, but Cleveland’s pressure disrupted the offense, and his final throw was intercepted. Rodgers acknowledged both issues afterward: “They were getting after us on some of the long-yardage stuff, and we weren’t winning a bunch,” he said. “I missed a couple throws I usually hit.”
How Pittsburgh went from an early lead to a late tie
A long opening drive
Pittsburgh opened with a 17-play, 78-yard possession that took 9:48 and ended with Rodgers flipping a 12-yard forward pass to Roman Wilson for a touchdown. Cleveland then scored 21 points in the second quarter, taking a 21-10 lead into halftime.

Two fourth-quarter touchdowns
After a takeaway helped set up a scoring opportunity, Rodgers connected with DK Metcalf for a 43-yard gain and then found Darnell Washington for a 21-yard touchdown. Cleveland answered with a field goal. Rodgers then led an eight-play, 80-yard drive, capped by a three-yard touchdown pass to Pat Freiermuth. He ran in the two-point conversion to tie the score at 24 with 1:42 remaining.
Why the Steelers still lost
Cleveland drove into range for kicker Andre Szmyt, who made a 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds left to put the Browns ahead 27-24. On Pittsburgh’s last possession, Rodgers launched a desperation pass toward Wilson, and Cleveland safety Grant Delpit intercepted it. The NFL game center confirms the final score.

Rodgers’ interception ended Pittsburgh’s final chance, but it was not the only reason for the defeat. Cleveland’s 21-point second quarter created the deficit, and Pittsburgh’s defense could not stop the Browns’ decisive late drive. Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy described the game as “a back-and-forth division game” and said the team needed to improve its situational football.

Neither label captures the full outing. Rodgers delivered three touchdown passes and a comeback that put Pittsburgh in position to win, including the two-point run that tied the score. At the same time, he took five sacks, threw two interceptions and missed throws he said he normally makes. The final interception was costly, but the game’s outcome also reflected Pittsburgh’s second-quarter collapse and inability to get a stop on Cleveland’s last scoring drive.

The loss left Pittsburgh 2-2 and moved Cleveland to 3-1, according to the Steelers’ official game page.
