As of October 3, 2026, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are the most prominent WWE names missing from the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Gunther, Finn Bálor and Rey Mysterio are also notable omissions. This is a list of wrestlers left out of the ladder match—not a claim that they are absent from the entire Money in the Bank event.
Who qualified for the men’s Money in the Bank match?
WWE’s announced six-man field is Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Penta, CM Punk and Kevin Owens. The event is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. This is a pre-event snapshot, so qualifiers and the card could change before the show.
WWE’s official match page records the entrants and the qualifying results. It does not rank wrestlers by prominence or popularity, so “biggest” here is an editorial judgment rather than an official WWE designation.
The biggest names not in the ladder match
1. Cody Rhodes
Rhodes lost the final qualifying match, a triple threat against Kevin Owens and Johnny Gargano. Owens took the last place in the ladder match. Rhodes’s loss is the clearest reason he tops this list: he was directly in contention for the final spot, but did not qualify.

2. Randy Orton
Orton was not among the final six despite having appeared in qualifying action. He lost to Trick Williams, who also defeated Rey Fenix to qualify. WWE’s recap also says Orton interfered in the final qualifier to keep Rhodes from winning. The official account establishes his involvement and the result, but does not name him as an entrant in the match.
3. Gunther
Gunther competed against CM Punk and Finn Bálor in a qualifier that Punk won. He did not advance to the ladder match.

4. Finn Bálor
Bálor was in the same qualifier as Punk and Gunther and likewise failed to advance. WWE’s match recap confirms the result, though it does not provide further detail about Bálor’s status for the rest of the event.
5. Rey Mysterio
Mysterio came up short in a triple threat qualifier won by Bron Breakker, which also included Ethan Page. He also appeared in Trick Williams’s qualifying match, where Williams defeated Orton and Rey Fenix. WWE’s recap supports Mysterio’s exclusion from the ladder match; it does not announce him for another match at the event.

Does “left off Money in the Bank” mean they miss the whole event?
No. The confirmed evidence here concerns the men’s ladder match, not every appearance on the October 10 card. WWE has separately announced Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight for the World Heavyweight Championship and Oba Femi vs. Bronson Reed. The announced card does not establish that Rhodes, Orton, Gunther, Bálor or Mysterio will appear elsewhere—or that they will not.
WWE’s event announcement says the briefcase contract gives its holder the right to challenge for a championship at a time and place of their choosing within the next year. That opportunity is at stake in the ladder match; it should not be confused with a complete event lineup.

When and where is Money in the Bank 2026?
WWE announced the event for Saturday, October 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, after moving it one month later than originally announced. WWE’s update says the event streams in the United States on the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited plan and internationally on Netflix. Viewing arrangements can change, so check current local listings closer to the event.
A Netflix Tudum preview published October 2 gave a 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT start time. That is a dated preview listing, not a guarantee that timing or distribution details will remain unchanged. See Netflix Tudum’s event preview for that snapshot.
